    Cubase: Pitch Correct Not Correcting

P.s. When I put the Pitch Correction onto any file, it doesn't do anything. No matter what setting I have. It shows the colours and things moving by, but it's as if it is just playing normally.

    Cubase: Pitch Correct Not Correcting

Hey everyone, I hope someone can help me out with this. I have Cubase 5, and I want to control the pitch of the singing with my Korg Nano Keyboard. I set everything up correctly as far as I know, but instead of tuning the speech while playing the keys, it does a weird distorted sound while I...

Can anyone figure out the sounds on this?

Apparently Jon Hopkins helped with some keyboards and other sounds on the album, and they heard this song and asked if they could include it on the new cd.

Can anyone figure out the sounds on this?

Hey everyone, I was checking out some stuff on Myspace and as it turns out I really love this one song. I'm trying to figure out what is all going on in it, and wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts. I think there's an electric piano playing some of the little melody lines, but I'm not so...

    A mixed bag of songs

I was just wondering what people thought about some of this stuff, perhaps some tips or something ... http://www.soundclick.com/ericschuran If that doesn't work properly, I believe this will bring you to my songs: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=506886 I've uploaded...

    Clean vocals/mic options cep 2

There is a way to clean up the tracks manually in Cool Edit. I'm not sure if I'll get chastised here for this info, but I use it all the time and it gets rid of the hiss and stuff in the background. But when you do this, make sure you don't have any bleeding from the mic picking up your music...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Sounds like they put flanger on the drums in a few songs ... songs like Twilight for instance. Perhaps a boost on the high-end of the EQ as well.

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

I noticed today on Turn to Stone that the harmonies also have what seems to be a lot of bass voices in there. Almost sounds like a Gregorian Chant. I can't figure the notes out though, it's so muddled.

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Yeah it's definately hard for me to make out what each harmony is when it comes to this type of thing. Same with Beach Boys and Queen. There's just so much going on, and it seems the harmonies are "dummed" down a bit so it's almost muffled or something. Hehe, I had no idea I was recording...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Did you do that on each harmony track, or just the collection of them? Here's my harmonies without anything added ... I did about 6 or 7 tracks for each harmony, just overdubbing the same line over and over. Harmony Bit

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Haha that is wild! Sounds nearly exact. I think you're right about the recording to tape, I believe he mentioned that in an interview actually. Funny you mentioned using Adobe Audition, I use Cool Edit Pro and I am too stubborn to let it go so I haven't tried out Audition yet. I heard they...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Hey nddhc, have you tried it yet? I was going to last night, but there was a bad thunderstorm and the power went out.

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

What I recommend you listen to then is "Turn to Stone" by ELO. Here's the video even though the quality of sound isn't that great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5pG4G8rq4c The best bits are when the harmony kicks in and sings after the lead singer does. Odd sounding but really cool. This...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

On the actual recording the part when they go, "Doo wop ... doo bee doo wop ..." sounds like there's something on them. I think I might try it the other way. I know there's no real harmony formula, that's for sure, considering that they sound like they are all lead by a certain voice following...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Ok I did a quick example on Melodyne, I know I know, I shouldn't use that stuff, I was trying to fool around with the scale tone patterns and see if it would snap the harmony into it's rightful place, so it would save me time, but it kinda made the harmony sound weird. Either way, as you can...

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

Glad you liked it :D There's a cool one on how Sir George Martin did some of the Beatles' stuff on Sgt. Pepper as well. That site has a plethora of cool interviews as well, even a rare Jeff Lynne one

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

I'm in Canada so I don't think I'll be heading to New Jersey any time soon. It's too bad because it would've been cool to get some info on this. There's just little pieces scattered around the net and stuff, but nothing really tangible for me to use.

Jeff Lynne and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

I'm trying to make a harmony thing like E.L.O at the moment .... no success so far, but I'll post what I have so you guys can check it out. Wish I knew more about the sound of the harmonies ... 'cause I transcribed some of them by ear and the sound is way off. It just sounds like regular...

That's really cool that you got to actually meet Jeff Lynne. From interviews he seems like a real nice guy. That, and his 'fro is cool too
