    So I just had this world-class vocalist in here . . .

I'm not saying Glen Hamilton is/was a great musician. He did, however, experience all the glitz and glory of the stage. When it was over, he simply had a bunch of great stories to tell. He told them without being brash, egotistical, or elitist about it. He gave me some great insight as to...

    So I just had this world-class vocalist in here . . .

I had a similar experiance, although not in a studio. Now that I think about it, it's a pretty sad story, but it goes to show that some people are just people. My day job in an equipment rental place (read: pressure washers at your local Home Depot) puts me in contact with a lot of every day...

    Midiman Delta 1010 ??

I got my Delta 1010LT from ebay for the low low price of $212 (including shipping). Brand new in the box. The cheapest I've seen the 1010 is about $500. The biggest difference is obviously the balanced inputs on the 1010 vs the unbalanced (RCA) inputs on the LT. For the price difference, the...

Record enabling multiple tracks in SX

So I finally parted with the cash to upgrade to cubase SX. Going from VST/32 to SX is like night and day. Let me just say I am very very happy with my purchase. However....how do I record enable more than one track at a time? Before you yell "RTFM!", I already did. All of my inputs are...

    PA Cabinet ports

There's a few things you need to know before you can put in a proper tuned port. In order for it to work properly, it actually needs to be tuned to both the cabinet and the speaker(s) in that cabinet. You have 3 options at this point. Option #1: Do nothing. THey designed it that way for a...

Trying to decide on a new guitar amp... anyone hate Marshalls or have a better sugges

Funny thing about amps and tone. Not everyone hears the same thing given the same equipment. That Virtual Yadda Yadda thing that's supposed to cut the volume and make it sound like a 25 watt amp...Here's the catch. Take a JCM800 or similar amp and turn it all the way up till the tubes are...

Reel to Reel ...... I know this is not the forum, but any old shoolers wanna help me?

If you don't mind doing a little hacking....you can make a real 4 track out of what you have. You need to wire a switch to the erase head (the smallest head there) so you can record over a previously recorded track without erasing it. There's a catch though. Some decks use a combination...

Effect sends and return in VST32!?

Sounds to me like it's a mono reverb. You can send all the stereo signals in the world to it and you'll always get a mono return. Is this a plugin effect or an outboard FX unit? If it's am outboard unit, see if it has a mono/stereo switch. If it's a plugin, find another one like freeverb.

    Graphic Equilizer

You should probably connect the EQ to an FX send/return on the main bus of your mixer. You can then switch it in and out. Your noise migh be coming from the difference in signal levels. There are a couple standards for signal levels and consumer audio gear does'nt quite fit into either...

    do I need a mixer

other option I used to use a mixer when reel to reel was still the best technology out there. I've since sold all the analog gear including the mixer. The only things left are a couple of patchbays. Using a Delta 1010 sound card, I simply route everything through 2 patchbays. That lets me...

    M-Audio Delta 1010 at Sweetwater for $469

I've been looking at buying a 1010 for a while now because my current soundcard (Guillemot Maxi Studio ISIS) won't run under Win2K or XP and I'm getting tired of constantly rebooting 98. Now I read that there's problems with running 2 1010's under 2000 and XP. Are these reports true or is it...

    problems with cubase vst 32

I have this same problem using a Guillemot ISIS sound card. I usually get low latency numbers but there's still always an echo. The only way I've found to cure this is to put the slider for whatever channel you are recording all the way down. You will have to monitor the signal directly from...
