oh yeah... and my first recording sucked too. to record the acoustic guitar i took a usb headset with a mic and took the ear with the mic off and taped it to the soundhole with the mic sticking under the strings into the hole. the thing was, i actually DID think it was awesome at the time...

those mics need phantom power. make sure phantom power is turned on. might be a switch.. it would say +48v or something similar.

i have a behringer c-1 condenser mic and i love it. it was $50. i've posted clips on this board with this mic on acoustic guitar and got positive feedback on the sound from it. it's the only gear of theirs i own but based on that mic i would buy more.

go to the microphones forum. tons of info on mic's and price ranges and which ones are best suited. research, research, research. this can get to be an expensive hobby, spend your money how YOU want to. like i said, that question has been asked a hundred time before. search button. =)
