You can also finda used Cubase 7 for cheaper prices... Not sure how much you'll use 8's features

The best thing I can think about, is get the best quality overheads and room sound you can get , and use replacor for the rest of the drums

These kind of comments were relevant 10 years ago , today midi is a standard... you can try fighting it but it is what it is, and the new generation works like that, which is fine it's their call

You are talking about "mastering" , mixing would be balancing the inside track, mastering would be improving the final result You'd might want to make the guitar a bit louder btw...

I honestly can't see a reason why you'd wanna save time on a mix, I really take my time with mixes till I make them right...
