I've heard they're good for acoustics...at the moment I've got a AKG C1000 so surely a matched pair of NT5s will be a big difference? I can get a pair for £215 + £10 postage which are apparently basically new. Are Rode mic's usually genuines from ebay? I know there's a few fakes of some brands...
Ah apologies, I'm not actually in this situation at the moment but was thinking hypothetically. I was thinking of recording a lot of instruments so this would have been useful should it have worked but I guess keeping it mono is much simpler!
Well I have an EMU 0204 but the results aren't that great, there seems to be a slight sort of echo/reverb in the transfers...I'm using line inputs but I have to turn the volume on the fader to about 1 or 2 to stop clipping on the computer. This is a USB and I'm on a Windows laptop...recording...
Thanks for the inputs, I think it was partly due to tape hiss and partly the sends as I've since got a cleaner copy out. Just wondering, is it normal to have to turn the master fader down to about 1 or 2 and the gain pots way down on the USB interface when converting to the computer? If I keep...
Playback seems slightly slower when i use SA60s instead of SA90s...it might even be slightly slower with the SA90s, but I don't think so...would anyone know the reason for this? thanks :)
Just thinking while walking home....in theory this should work? Ie bounce tracks 1+2+3+4 to track 8 with, say track 4 at 8 on the fader, other tracks at 7. then bounce 1+2+3+4 to track 7, set all tracks to 7 on the fader but track 4 to 6 on the fader. pan accordingly. Dos this work or is it more...
I've heard someone else mention that SansAmp...might look into that. The thing is I don't have a bass amp so really I need something to DI it with...probably a preamp. But then I don't have a pre amp either! I've just got a P bass so hopefully that will go someway towards it
Hi, just out of interest would you mind telling me what you're using to mix down with? I'm doing it to the computer at the moment but would rather have a cassette deck! cheers
Apart from a really good bass!
I mean something like this...quite a full tone but it's not too boomy. Pre-amp? Compressor? EQ? is it even achievable with a £200 bass?
Ok so I'm pretty sure of the answer here, and I found out the hard way...when bouncing down on a Tascam 488 8 track cassette. is t possible to bounce tracks 3 and 4 onto track 3? Or does it have to be a different track than the tracks being bounced? I had no tracks left so I tried to bounce down...
Ok so I'm tempted to do another 'how do I get the sound of....' thread but I'm going to try not to. BUT has anyone else tried to get the overdriven sort of acoustic sound? I think Keitch Richards mic'ed up an acoustic then ran it through a cassette recorder, then mic'ed that...or something similar!
I forgot I'd posted this! Basically I'm after the bass tone on 'Parachute Woman' off Beggars Banquet by the Rolling Stones...in fact if I could get close to a fraction of that I'd be pleased!
I agree it does sound like bad tape hiss, I think there's something else though...it seems more reverby than on the Tascam, and just lacks something. There's a significant noise increase when I push the GRP 1-2 monitor in though...even when there's no channels assigned to GRP 1-2 and no mic...
