I bought mine for $150 new about twelve years ago. I was shocked by how smooth the neck was for such a cheap guitar. The pickups leave something to be desired, but that's the Danelectro sound I guess.

Gibson owns Tascam too. I'm predicting a Les Paul with a built in Tascam interface, Cakewalk software and robotic tuners sometime in the future.

Congrats, I can appreciate a decent cheap acoustic. You don't have to cry if you scratch it. I have a very plain Seagull 12 string I bought used, it was probably cheap because it was so plain looking.

I think non musicians focus more on the styles and culture to define music and guys like us just look at the notes on the frets. It's not like they're inventing new notes and chords.

You can get a decent uke for your budget rather than a crappy guitar that wont get played when you're not on vacation. A uke is also smaller than a travel guitar.

Get a ukulele.

I have two teens who play instruments in band and orchestra, but they won't have anything to do with dad's guitars.:(

My secret is to sing bad enough that no one notices the uke playing.:)
