Blue Bear - in the quote you posted, was he talking about main monitors, or near-fields? The reason I ask, is that I've always thought that the main purpose of near-fields is to provide a way of monitoring which is (relatively) unaffected by the room (modes etc.), and which doesn't have the...
I understand what you're saying, but perhaps you were listening to the music in an environment which was too noisy. I could never undertand why people always rave about having a CD player in their car (apart from the convenience) - typical dynamic range of a CD is ~95dB, typical noise level in...
eh? is this bollocks or what?
I always thought that the whole idea of near-field monitors was to try and get them to be as independent of the room acoustics as possible... Isn't that the whole purpose of NF monitoring?
yawn... this thread is getting boring (entertaining, but...
Yup - but cheesy low-quality pics, with lame excuses for the even cheesier old pics!!! I would say that if the quality of their product is anything like the quality of their web-site, then that's a good reason to move on to the next one...

If you're serious about getting rid of it you could try eBay (~$1k or thereabouts) - but why get rid of it? I agree with DarthFaders - your problems won't necessarily go away...

I have a Marantz PMD-430 3-head cassette recorder which I've used on & off for the past 18 years. You can still get them from places like FullCompass Systems, but you could also try these:

The max SPL which the mic can deal with will be higher when using the 48V phantom power, rather than the 1.5V from the AA internal battery. I would only use the AA battery when the 48V is not available (for whatever reason).

Bruel & Kjaer put out a demo-disk (early 1980s) which is pretty damned good - a whole variety of sounds, from symphonic to country, from heavy rock to the sound of a passing train recorded in the countryside. All recorded with B & K (or DPA, as they are now) microphones. Very clean, what you...

I have 4 Yamahas and 1 TDK - (IMHO) the Yamahas kick arse. I used them mostly with the Nero s/w. I also have the Roxio/Adaptec s/w, but (IMHO) Nero is better...

Roland documentation is one of the last "Great Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe" - many people spend their whole lives trying to find the question for which the ultimate answer is "42", others are content to try to make sense of the Roland VS-1680 manuals, which is no mean feat in...
The sales-droids at the music store wanted to sell you a pair of headphones - it's as simple as that and that's all there is to it! What the hell did you expect? Help? Advice? Knowledge? Hints? Dream on! If the sales-personages had any brains do you really think they'd be...
