    Memphis Gibson plant tour

Wa-hoo! My wife planned a short vacation to Memphis where we toured the Gibson plant. Kick ass vacation idea. I highly recommend the tour if you are into guitar construction or woodworking. You get to see each stage of the hand manufacturing process of semi-hollowbody guitars. If you're...

    Gibson Quality????

I don't know about their link, but I have first-hand knowledge that the semi-hollowbodies are hand made in Memphis. The solid bodies are made in Nashville. Did I mention I just toured the Memphis plant three days ago? ;)

The most kick arse guitar you know?

Dammit Aaron. I might have to start liking you, or something... :) I thought that axe would receive no other votes. However, like your Silhouette, it just worked perfect for me. Then again, maybe it was the breasts.

The most kick arse guitar you know?

There are so many great axes and it all depends on your taste. My fave of all time was an ESP Custom based on the ESP George Lynch Kamikaze I model. It was always great. But many different axes have many different qualites that make them great. Often, depending on the application, a...

    The cost of laziness...

Gotta agree with JR. It's such a pain to change strings. To me it's a means to an end. The only reason I tech my own guitar is because I trust myself more than the local techs. I do (finally) have a tech I trust more than myself. However, he's an hour away. Thus, it takes four hours of...

    You gotta see this!

Originally from Milwaukee, college at UW-Platteville, now in Pleasant Prairie (by Kenosha). I remember driving through Clintonville on the way to my grandparents in Wausau from Milwaukee via my uncle's palce Oshgosh. That's about all I know about Clintonville. :)

Not trying to start a direct versus mic'ing war...

Where's B.Sabbath? He may be able to help ya. He gets some great tones from his. But I think he may use other effects/amps along with it.

    You gotta see this!

Heh. Who knows if it works, how it sounds, and how much effort it would take to repair and get it working. However, it looks damn cool.

    The cost of laziness...

Jah. Hate changing them here too. Especially on my floating bridge axes. Urgh. However, after not changing them for a while, I'll start thinking I need a new axe because mine are sounding like ass. Eventually I'll change the strings. Suddenly, it's like getting a new axe. Nice, bright...

    Getting that HEAVY chunk

Uhh. You may be right that it doesn't necessarily mean he knows the best techniques. However, it definitely seems relevant in defending the fact that he's not a "beginner."

    Cheap drum triggers/pads

I've used #273-059 with good results. I also use it to trigger the bass drum.

    Gibson Quality????

Nice post Scott. Regarding Gibsons, I have a LP Studio that I picked up 6 months ago. I ordered it through a local shop. Thus, I couldn't play it until it arrived. It played fine when it arrived so I bought it. I also had the tech at the shop set it up. Be that as it may, I recently...

    Guitar Tricks

Nice tips Aaron. I wasn't familiar with a few. Don't forget the delay for "Cathedral." Especially when hammering the first, third, and octave of a power chord. M.Brane, I also liked the stell pick and agree it eats though strings. Aluminum was better, but then the strings eat the pick...

How to fix a crappy tone

Damn. Now I've got to sell my Mesa/Boogie TriAxis and Quad to get a J-Station. Do you think a shop will take them in trade? Then again, maybe I'll try the XLR in the cat's butt technique. :)
