    Which way is UP????

The prob with calling it by note is you can play the same note at different positions on different strings. Be that as it may, I've also run into the "lower" prob. The good thing, Aaron, is you recognize the problem. This will make it easier to calmly tell your student that by "lower" you...

    Who's responsible for this crap?

SLuiCe, Crysalis made me get out of my undies. I can just picture the sweat dripping off your axe as that one was laid down. Q Jah right. Almost as crappy as Boogashreddazza. Imagine me listening to Qthousand getting up and dancing around my house in my undies. Then again, don't imagine...

    Who's responsible for this crap?

I don't know if you can imagine this, but I came home today and there's this white package in my mailbox. I open it up and oooh! Vol. II is lightly teasing my fingertips. After penetrating my player with the blue CD, my auditory senses begin to become instensly aroused to the sounds of my...

    Naked wav on it's way!

Just plopped it in the mail an hour ago. Wrote it, performed it, recorded it, and mixed it just for the Comp CD. It's "naked" because I didn't have time to submit it to the Clinic for review before submitting it. Btw Slack, You put me down for one of the remaining Vol. I CD's. Thus, I...

Bands with only one good song.

To follow up on Aaron and Cyrokk's original points about LPs: One thing I remember with tapes is that they forced me to listen to all of the songs. For example, I'd listen to a tape up to a ceratain point and later would have to either rewind it or resume from that point. Since it was a pain...

Fender Lace Pickups... Self Installation, Sound differnece, and price/benifit ratio??

I had one of the first lace sensors in my Strat. It sounded good. However, for the fun of it, years ago I swapped it for a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge. I didn't notice a huge difference between the two. However, I now love the Hot Rails and can't remember how similar they were. Point...

    (marty friedman) hanger 18 solo

Re: Re: (marty friedman) hanger 18 solo Yeah, I also love that album. Chris is a very fluid player. Of note, Gars was the drummer, Dave was the other guitarist. Also, I agree that both Dave and Marty traded solos on Hangar 18. Cyrokk put it well in stating Dave has a more "frantic linear...

POLL - do you record bass or guitar first? why?

Uhh. It's kind of the opposite. The bass really has to lock into the rhythm with the drummer. Of course, timing and rhythm is also important on guitar, but bass provides the link between the drums and the guitar.

Good solo! Learn that, and you'll get great chop development.

    Peterson VS-1 Virtual Strobe Tuner

I also have a VS-1. It's great. Strobe tuners allow for more precision when tuning. This is also especially useful for setting your intonation.

    Mesa/Boogie Mark IV specs

Oooh. The Mark IV. Great amp. I have a TriAxis, which can approximate the IV, but I wish I also had the IV (and a IIC+, and a Triple Rec stack, and a Single Rec combo...)

    Tech 21: GT2, Trademark 10 or 60

Good call with the Trademark 10. Then again, it would have been a good call with the GT2 or the Trademark 60. A great thing about the 10 over the GT2, like you can hear from Mr. Moon, is that you can mic the cabinet. Mic'ing a cab allows for great variation in tones depending on the mic...

POLL - do you record bass or guitar first? why?

Guitar then bass. Often because the songs are guitar-based. Also, because I'm more of a guitarist than a bassist. Either way doesn't matter for me because I usually try to get a great tone out of each regardless of which was recorded when. Preferrably to complement each other. I then will...

    Guitar shops in/near Crystal City

Ok, I stand corrected on a few things. However, I still stand by my recommendation for Chuck Levins. Like I mentioned, it is crowded and it is hard to get a salesperson. However, the selection is great and they have good prices. I especially stand by my recommendation for Action Music.

    Guitar shops in/near Crystal City

There's a little shop on 23rd St, one block West of Jefferson Davis Highway called Zaverellas. Don't bother going there, not much of a selection and they usually charge too much. However, it's the only guitar shop I'm aware of that's actually in Crystal City. I would stongly...

Trying to decide on a new guitar amp... anyone hate Marshalls or have a better sugges

It seems implied that they also sound fairly different. This is a result of how they are placed in the mix of their songs. More importantly, it is a great example of how a lot of a player's tone comes just as much from their fingers as from their amp. I find it interesting that you want a...
