Great call. My brother is a prime example of this. He doesn't have any good microphones or gear where as I do. His songs sound amazing, even through a macbook mic. I have condensers and an interface and logic and mine don't compare. its about the song itself first.

get soundclick instead of myspace. people would rather check out a better quality audio file to assess it. also consider the fact that these are the first three songs you've ever recorded. did you expect to "professional" recordings right away?

I think sonar is too cluttered. I would suggest logic, but it sounds like your on a pc? ableton is cool, but better for live stuff. I'd check out cubase 4/5 and sonar as well. (i just don't like sonar.)

let me know what you think of the recorderman method in comparison (so if its way better I prob won't bother trying different setups.:D) don't you find them a bit noisy though? (the c-2s?)

I use the c-2s as well as overheads. How do you like them? I 've never used them in "ortf" ; I use the recorderman method. How does the ortf method work?

I'd look into trying out the hyper editor for drums, as it seems pretty powerful. You can find lots of info on it on youtube i'm sure.

Logic's plugins are extremely powerful, even in logic express. I highly suggest you read the plugin manual before you go out and blow a bunch of money on some waves gold platinum, (insert type of gem/rock) bundle :D I would see if you can make do with what you already have (i have logic express...
