How many ladies vs. how many men are posting in the "Computer Recording" Forum???

I'm not sure if I'll end up to be that 1%, but last time I checked, I was female.

    the end of Saw

Vari-pitch is pretty good in Pro. Its even better in Studio. Can't comment on Reverberator as I've never tried it. Those who have seem to love it. There are some pre-sets available at one users site. Again, I'll have to look up the URL. Angie

    the end of Saw

I'm glad its worked out for you. SAWPro is a wonderful product. Though IQS is no more and the older products are no longer supported, SAWStudio will continue in some capacity. Most likely in a turn-key system. More information on Studio is at www.sawstudio.com. If you have support...

    Noisy Soundcard Woes

I've never found the meters in SF to be all that great and have never seen them register zero. So don't worry about that. Watch them for clipping and use your ears for everything else. Without knowing what the noise sounds like exactly, here are a couple things to look at before messing with...

Recommend a good graphic eq plug in please

You might want to check out the Sonitus:fx from Ultrafunk. The EQ is great. The reverb is nice too. Both VST and DirectX. www.ultrafunk.com

    Clueless Opera Singer

I'm sort of with Chessrock on this. I don't think you want to spend all that money. This is opera not headbanger rock. And I really don't think you know what your getting yourself into. Why not hire someone the high end mics, pre's and equipment to record. They worry about recording...

    Compressor; software or hardware??

I'm not familiar with Composer Pro or its pricing. But I highly recommend the Ultrafunk compressor. www.ultrafunk.com They have a great package of plug-ins.

    Backing up files

I don't know what the best way to back up would be. I back up to CD-R currently. Though that's becoming a pain. I know guys who use tape based computer back-up systems. That can also be time consuming. I may start looking into DVD-R soon. As for your second question: We call it a Master...

SAW Pro / SAW Studio....Anyone ever use this??

Yes, IQS as we know it is no more. All products previous to SAWStudio are no longer supported. All indications are that SAWStudio will continue in some form. The SAWStudio website (www.sawstudio.com) is still available. There has been much speculation about what happened and what the future...

    Quick question plz respond

Quick question, no quick answer Are the soundblaster and graphics card the only cards you have in the box? What OS are you using, Win98SE? You should be able to check how many IRQs you have available in the device manager. You might want to make sure Plug and Play is off in the BIOS before...

    burning programs

Unfortunately the best audio burning software was CD Architect. Sonic Foundry in their infinite wisdom, discountinued it. I hear Nero is pretty good.

    computer based recording

The RYO at ProRec suggestion is a good one. There are a lot of guys who have followed those instructions. So the forum there is a good place to go if you run into problems putting it together. As far as soundcards. The MOTU 2408 system is a nice one on paper. I loved it when I first got it...

SAW Pro / SAW Studio....Anyone ever use this??

If you are thinking of using the MOTU 2408 system. Forget it. I know no one who has gotten the PCI-324 card to work with a dual CPU system. I use the converters with a Hammerfall now. And highly recommend it. No problems and great support.

SAW Pro / SAW Studio....Anyone ever use this??

Hard2Hear, >>Anyhoo, any more comments before I drop the buck? << Just want to let you and everyone else know that IQS has implemented a nice payment plan option. Also, the upgrade path is a nice one. If you can't afford the full package now, going with Studio Lite and upgrading later is a...

how to make playback more reliable?

This doesn't sound like a CPU problem to me. I ran an AMD K6-3 450 for a few years. 24-30 dry tracks in SAWPro were never a problem. Am I understanding you only have one drive? And a small one at that. You'll get better performance if you run the program off the boot drive and all audio on...

Which software you use to make audio recording

Alchemist3k, You must have looked at the SAW Pro demo. I don't believe there is a Studio demo available. Big mistake on IQS's part. Instead there is a quicktime presentation on www.sawstudio.com which is worth taking a look at. You're right about the price tag. If one were seriously...
