Any of you track and mix using a macbook air?

Whoa whoa whoa, I'm at least 1 step above a newb. And I'm certainly no newb when it comes to restores, target disk mode and macs in general :) Regardless, I very much appreciate the advice steeno. Sorry for the delayed response, it was my birthday yesterday so I was in outer space, just got...

Any of you track and mix using a macbook air?

Lol if only you guys knew how small our team is and how much each of us do. Not exactly a job you take to get paid millions, but certainly one that makes me happy as I get to speak with you guys and people on other sites from all around the world about one of my passions. But you're right, I...

    mixing doesn't matter

ESPECIALLY with stupid things. blows my mind. Well obviously the thread title is as blatantly troll as it gets. But (and I could be wrong) I think the OP was just trying to say sometimes, people over-analyze to the point that they eliminate the possibility of progression before they even...

Any of you track and mix using a macbook air?

I have a 2011 macbook pro that I'm thinking of completely restoring and dedicating for my music, but long story short it just might be too old. I also have a newer macbook air 1.8ghz intel core i5 and 4gb of RAM. Just curious to see if any of you successfully dedicate a macbook air for music...

    Audio Interface Comparison Chart

I found out the discrepancy. It was because you used the 'attach files' tool and I used 'add image'. Anyway, everything should be good to go, with the duplicate removed and those 2 changes made. No more changes! ;)

    Audio Interface Comparison Chart

Lol I didn't leave the old image at the bottom, seems to be some sort of bug. Here's all I see when I edit the post: File #90289 is the file that I uploaded to change the error. The original culprit (Chart #3 you called it, but I think here it would've been 88572 or something of the sort) is...

Better interface needed (currently using Audiobox USB)

Lol Microcenter, it's been a while since I've seen one, good times! I'm still using my work computer (stock macbook air) for now, but I have an older 2011 macbook pro that I'm thinking of restoring completely and dedicating entirely to music production. I'm also on the fence about instead...

    Do yourself

Lugatt, if you think you have an amazing idea that can compete with the likes of these giants like Apple, then by all means you should pursue that idea. But an idea like that should be game-changing if it has any chance to uproot or challenge the powerhouses that rule the industry. So if you...

Better interface needed (currently using Audiobox USB)

Just read this and realized I never responded. By mix control I meant a knob for varying between source audio and the audio output from the DAW (either blending the 2 or picking one or the other). Basically a way to eliminate or decrease latency issues that might occur while monitoring

What is your default vocal effect chain? EQ/Compressor/Reverb.. ?

I'm a decent enough singer but getting good vocal tracks has always been a weak point of mine. I'm really digging these responses though, helps kind of set a standard from which you can experiment and find what works better on your voice. Definitely looking forward to trying out some of these...

    Audio Interface for home studio

Absolutely Dave, I didn't mind getting a great interface that might not be upgraded because I'm one of those guys who thinks most of Apple's OS X updates since Lion haven't been all that amazing, at least from a music production standpoint. Every functionality I had back when Lion was new is...

    Audio Interface for home studio

I recently just went through a similar dilemma as I start to put together a small home studio in my relatively new apartment. From what I gathered, the 2i2 or UR22 are pretty much go-tos for the under-$200 range. One of the HR regulars recommended the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6...

    CAD M179 or Blue Spark?

You can find the Spark for 200 bucks or less anywhere, and it does a great job on vocals. Obviously, a mic's sound quality depends on the type of singer. I'm a tenor with a bit of a nasally voice and the spark did great. However, with other applications, the M179 is much more versatile. It's...

Better interface needed (currently using Audiobox USB)

That's the thing, I don't have room for a desk :( My place is a small 320 sq ft apartment shared with the gf, where my interface goes on top of the coffee table or kitchen table depending on whether I'm on the couch or sitting on the table. Seriously no room for my own desk, which would be...
