Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Booda, The V-18 should be similar in some ways, but different in others. The Champ was I'm pretty sure a single-ended class A tube amp with a single 6V6 tube in tyhe power section, which in and of itself will sound a bit different than an EL84 based amp. The Champ is 5 watts, and the V-18 is...

Which one sounds better the digital or analog?

I'm going with A on both, although I don't really think it proves anything other than one sounds better than the other. The naked drums sound like they were tracked well, but that the mixes could use further tweaking... they don't sound "present" enough for my ears.... not enough compression for...

    Pod vs Tone Port

The amp models should be exactly alike. If you buy the Gear Box Gold from MF for $99.00, it comes with the tone port DI and has every single model that Line 6 has.... it has many more than the Pod Xt live, and the same ones as the Pod X3. I personally love mine, and have used it on tons of...

I need new tubes... make some recommendations!

I would try buying 2 or three 12AT7s or 12AU7s and subbing them in different spots in the preamp. You'll have to try them in different spots, to see where they make the change you want. These have somewhat less gain than the 12AX7s, and will be a direct replacement for you. I wouldn't worry...

Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Yep.... I looked at my Palomino 2x12 I keep at church, and that sucker says 'Designed in USA, Manufactured in Thailand'!!! The speakers look different than the 1x12 I keep at home, which was made in USA. I dunno.... they sound the same to me! :D :D :D :D Yep, I know the drill, fer sure

Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Both of my Palomino V-32 amps are made in the USA with celestions. I paid $500.00 new in Jan. 2006 for my 1x12, and $350.00 new in February 2008 for the 2x12. It was the last one they had at GC. Again, does your V-18 amp have the country of origin on it someplace? Peace! ~Shawn

    HONDO GUITARS, anybody ???

This has been my experience to a "T." (Whatever that means.) Every Hondo I ever play had a horrible soft plastic nut, bad intonation, and action that made my fingers hurt. You can take a $100 today and buy 10 times the guitar that you could buy in the eighties for $100. I spent $350 on a plywood...

    something wrong...

You betcha! Shoot me an email when you're ready. I'll pm my email to you. If all else fails, you can send me your audio and midi and we'll work on tweaks seperately but together. I can tweak them a bit, post the result with an explanation, and see if you can duplicate it at your end. Cool...

    Guitar multi-effect

I've spent thousands on multi-effects. My favs are the Vox Tonelab and some of the Pod stuff from my Gold bundle. The Vox beats the pants off of Line6 for its "just breaking up" almost distorted tones, but some of the heavier models on the Line6 beat out the Vox. I suspect I would like the Zoom...

Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Well, the Palomino's were certainly never 4-5 times the price of the V-Series. As a matter of fact, the V-Series includes the Palomino. When I ordered my schematic from Crate for my V-Series Palomino V-32, they sent the schem for a V-3112, which is/was the same amp with different tolex. Now...

    something wrong...

Cool! So lets have some fun! For me, it's very hard to seperate the mix from the arrangment of a tune some times. Really, the mix begins when we choose elements of an arrangement. That just means that the instruments we use, and the timbres/sounds chosen for each of them, will have a bearing on...

    something wrong...

What are you recording with, a DAW? Is your drum machine in software, or is it an external box? Is there a way you could bring each individual drum into the DAW as 1 track per drum, to allow for individual processing? ~Shawn

Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Resistance is futile..... give in to the Force!! This isn't quite up to the "I wish I hadn't sold that 68 Les Paul Custom for $250 rent money" point, but $300 for a 32 watt all tube class a head built in the states with a 2x12 closed back cab with 2 celestions is getting close to the "I really...

Grab Yourself A Deal On A Tube Amplifier!

Thanks Famous Beagle! That's not a Les Paul, but my home-made Telecaster Thinline :D It's got a GFS Fatbody Overwound single coil Tele bridge pickup. The V32 is a loud 30 watt amp, but not TOO loud. It's a relative thing. The only thing different about the Palomino was the color of the tolex...
