Tube rectifiers VS solid state, ???

Sorry for the miss direction..... I do think overall a tube rectifier is much better for the life of any tube operated gear. Speaking from experience, I have seen a lot of amps with solid state rectifiers that when new power tubes were installed, had 20-30% less usable life than an amp with a...

Tube rectifiers VS solid state, ???

having close to 35 years of tube knowledge, and close to that in amp building and with both in mind, I half agree with both of you guys,.... a standby switch in a modern guitar amp is a big benefit to those who want to take a break for 15-30 minutes for lunch, or other things, but is not an...

    Best acoustic guitar pickup?

What is the guitar, and what is your type of playing, IE strum, fingerpick, both, single string ?? some pickups do not like strumming, they pick up way too much scratchyness from the hand movement, and sometimes pick noise as well.... A quality Pre-amp can do loads to make your sound big and...

Tube rectifiers VS solid state, ???

In all tube amplifiers, no matter the age, or maker, the tubes run on DC current. A rectifier changes the AC, (* normal house current 110-120 v) to DC current. In tube rectifiers, when power is applied, switched on, if there is no 'standby' switch, it warms up slowly and feeds the converted...

What feeling do you get from this tune???

Recorded something to just have a little of it 'on tape' before the end of the year. I am quite old and not in the best of health so recording anything is a chore,.. not a real ENGINEER type, so tweaking knobs is not my thing I would just like a little feedback on the overall feel of this tune...

    I recorded something new, and...

I sort of know what it needs, but, I just don't want to learn a recording engineers job in order to fix it, I had fun doimg it, and it is becoming harder to do with the arthritis setting in..... Just would like a little feedback on the overall feel of it, I like playing and I know how so it all...

I used to build amps, and still have some I want to finish and over the years acquired lots of parts, I am currently selling stuff on the Bay, and most does not relate to music amplification. I do however have a lot of passive components that would, IE capacitors, resistors, Diodes, etc, My...
