I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking.
I heard somebody talking about the Universal amp limiter yesterday. Got me curious.
The gist I get is you put it between preamp and recorder and it helps give you a fat sound without clipping.
I'm thinking someone here must be in the know. Anybody....??
I must be sick. I find it relaxing.
I just love the sound of new strings.
Also, it reduces the chance of braking one on a gig, so I change often. Hate breaking a string on a gig!
Remember -
the more often you change, the quicker you get at it.
Then it'll suck less.

The review's final sentence is, "At this price point, nothing we know of touches it."

I'm just using the compressor that comes with the Yamaha 2816.
I'm still in the "Hey, let me try this!" stage.
I have no idea what a 3630 or an RNC is. Obviously they're compressors, but...........?

After recording vocals with some compression I notced that they weren't quite as clear as when they were recorded without compression. I was trying to keep them from clipping during the louder parts.
Is this common? Suggestions for compression settings?
Record at lower volumes and screw...

Big apologies to you Taylor loyalists. I guess I'm just a big fan of the traditional rosewood back and sides on flattops.
I found that cutting some of the hi mids helped, BTW.
PS- I'm a big Martin fan and some of their guitars make...
Any suggestions for a mike to use on a harsh sounding Taylor. It's a guitar that has pretty, though bad sounding hardwood for back and sides.
Also, ideas on what mike to use on electric guitar with clean but edgy country type sound.
Suggestions on other equipment or techniques are also...
