    My first original PC recording

home studio done After several months of trying to assemble a jazzy funk band in my rock town (to no avail), I've accepted the fact that I pretty much have to do it myself if I actually want to start anything. So I bought an inexpensive guitar and keyboard...here's my first composition...

K I'm still having troubles with a clean signal. It's not that I can't get one; I can, but I have to keep stuff pretty low to do it. Maybe I should use a passive bass to test my theory that my active bass is the main culprit, but I don't have ready access to one at the moment. I've seen...

    My first original PC recording

Thanks for listening idol! Your comment on tone gave me a warm fuzzy feeling :D ...I didn't specifically strive for sonic quality for these initial attempts (just getting something done was more important), but one of my major goals will be to get good-sounding bass recorded. The reason the...

    My first original PC recording

thanks teddy Thanks for listening Teddy! I'm reading about "Cubase SE" right now, and I think that might be a contender for me (i.e. I can afford it :) ). From what I've mentioned above (basically recording songs in my bedroom with drum samples and everything else real live instruments, one...

    My first original PC recording

Over the past couple weeks I've built my home PC studio, using info from this forum and various other sources. I've got an Audiophile 2496, mixer and active DI. The Audiophile came with Ableton Live Lite 4, which is limited yet still seems quite powerful for free software (I'm brand-new to...

K I think of figured out the 2496's patchbay/router, at least enough for my current needs. My problem now is recording bass; both my basses are active and I'm having trouble getting a clean signal. Various combinations of levels on the bass, mixer and soundcard are not yet successful :(

    My first attempts

Hi all I'm utterly new to this home recording thing so I'm taking baby steps at the moment. Here's step one: Funkjazzy step two: Alright I'm doing this completely basic so far, just plugging my bass into my onboard soundcard and playing along with some backing tracks in an old version of...

Thanks again Kevin! I think I'm going go for the Audiophile 24/96 and the DMP3. For what I want to do and my budget, it seems like a good way to go, and the equipment will serve me in the future as well since it isn't bottom-feeder stuff (at least I hope not :D ) another week-and-a-half of...

Thanks for the replies! I'm still deciding; luckily I am pretty much broke for another 2 weeks, forcing me to do a little research into what I want/need for this home recording hobby :D It looks like I'll be getting the Audiophile 2496. What I haven't figured out is the mixer/preamp part of...

I'm extremely new to this PC recording thing. So far I've plugged my bass directly into the line-in on my PC's onboard sound and played along with some MIDI files in Cakewalk: www.geocities.com/rdf_asc_ref/funkjazzy.mp3 The onboard sound seems pretty limited, so I plan to get the Audiophile...
