    8 track multi cassette specialness

Some beautiful advice from fellow forumites, and pictures: from: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=201624&highlight=mr8t Pictures (somehow I managed to catch every damn scratch that isn't normally visible when looking at this good condition item -- I think it was the camera...

    8 track multi cassette specialness

Due to financial reasons and only financial reasons, I'm selling my TOA MR8T. That is, if anyone wants to buy it at $155. I'll post pictures later if I can find them, but the unit is in good condition, all inputs and outputs working, although I haven't tested every single loop i/o. I used...

    Simple 1/8 jack question

Which in this case would mean a total of 4 resistors, right? And that would be to make the outputs higher resistance than the inputs for the correct signal flow or loading?

    Simple 1/8 jack question

Ok, if this were a more important connection, I'd put the resistors in. But where would they be wired into? 3 resistors for each stereo cable - left, right, ground? Thanks

    Simple 1/8 jack question

Someone who I'm working for is using a headphone splitter (the small male to 2 female plug) plugged into his laptop. -Going out from one female split is the cable to the stereo with dual rca on the ends. -Going out from the other female side is an INput from his other computer. It works in...

Can I get some hiss clips?

Well I got it from doing the same thing advised, thanks. Recorded line noise and added it to generated noise. Then EQ'd it to get the correct frequency.

Can I get some hiss clips?

I'm doing an audio project for someone who has old cassette recordings with no extra milliseconds of leads or endings. In fact he cut off some of the first and last notes of his songs. Brilliant. On one particular track I'm just looking to add some pre-track hiss so the hiss intro won't be too...

How many drum mics do you record with

Voted 7-9 to assume a regular drum kit with 3 toms. OH: MXL 604 left and Behringer B-2 Pro right and front (pointed at the kick) Snare: ES-57 Toms: ES-57 Kick: Kbm412/speaker mic Or for the Glyn Johns method I use the B-2 Pro for the kick.

    Condensers and SPL handling

Thanks. If I do get the condenser I'll be putting up a windscreen at about 6 inches then.

    Condensers and SPL handling

I've always been good at tuning drums, so that's never been a problem. I use the signal from the condenser overheads most which is why I'm not worried as much about an accurate expensive mic. If anyone knows what happens with a condenser that is placed close to a kick drum I'd appreciate it.

    Condensers and SPL handling

I'm wanting to buy a kick drum mic, although I don't want to budget over $50 (hahaha). It will be part of a digital multitrack setup so I can tweak EQ and compression like hell after tracking. I like a bass drum sound that is very wet, low, and a tad boomy. Should I go for the KBM412 or get...

Stuck in a rutt (proper recording procedure?)

I am able to play with a click, and I won't do it either. Same idea as the drumagog, vocal pitch corrector, etc. Yes it can allow for crappy playing, but it can also deny groove, feeling, space, and freedom. Metronomes are a limitation. If i were in an electronic band or a speed metal band...

    FSK question

So now I have everything on the way to use my FSK sync on my tape machine, but I have no idea of how it works in practice. Do I need to stripe a track with a time code before I record on the rest of the tracks? The plan is Reaper timecode generator -> midi to FSK converter -> tape machine

    YOUR Biggest improvement yet !!!!

Learning compression. Overtweaking, overdriving, and destroying everything I use. Testing its limits. The best and most carnal way to figure out what really works best for what.

What do I need to know about syncing?

Damnit I wanted to have a more complex setup. Yeah I'll probably end up doing just that. But I was wondering if I could add it on to my digital setup as 7 additional synced channels. But if I did want to use a sync, what kind of midi play would i run through that channel?

What do I need to know about syncing?

I have a TOA MR8T 8 track cassette recorder....it has an rca in and out for a sync input. What was that used for, and what can it be used for? Can I hook it up to any new digital equipment? Looked for a manual for this machine but can't find one. thanks!

    trs insert - switch?

I have an alesis io|26 which has the trs insert point, and want to get an FMR RNC. http://www.fmraudio.com/panelviewspage.htm Thing is, I'm pretty sure the ring on my alesis is the output (I get a signal with one click down on a ts cable). And it looks like the ring is the output on the RNC...

    Will reaper sell out?

I'm buying Reaper. I love this program, for so many reasons. But is anyone else worried that 4 years down the line it'll be another big bucks program (surely a good one) and people with reasonable incomes will be looking for the next best thing? I hope not, and here's some encouragement for...
