If it's possible for you to make pre-production guide track cd for the drummer to practice to, with the click loud and vox+vital instruments mixed low, I reckon you will get a much better result. I have often done this for free (it doesn't take long), to minimize drum tracking hell later on...

IMO, with a bit of time spent on mic positioning, you can make any decent kick mic work with a bit of help from a suspended ns10 driver or a yamaha subkick. Get some good isolating headphones to help with postioning though. I've being using either the Sennheiser e602 or MD421-U5 with the Yamaha...
