It's the drummer I reckon, or rather the drumming. Maybe a click and keep doing takes until he nails it would work.
There are a couple of reasons behind having two copies of the vocal track, one compressed and one reverberated...
The fact that the uncompressed take feeds the reverb, means...
I like the song alot. I like the acoustic sound, it's pretty nice. I like the breathy vocal peformance.
What I don't like:
The percussion. It's pretty badly out of time in places, and could be recorded better.
The vocal sound.
It sounds to me like there was just one mic set up to capture...
Ah, I should have been clearer. By 'mid-session' I mean that the intial rhythm section tracking has been done, but the band are not coming back in for a couple of days.
Basically what I want to know is if anyone has had an experience where defragging made audio performance worse, or even :eek...
Is this a good/bad idea if I think HD performance is slowing ?
I remember reading both pros and cons to this... maybe someone with some technical knowledge could advise ?
Cheers,
Nathan
Yep...the problem returns.
Update: I think I am starting to discover the consequences of disabling TrackSpeed, playback is way less reliable. It still won't work at all with some sessions with it enabled though.
This is my first paying session with Samp 8, I had been working with it for a week...
Ok, so I recently moved to Samp 8.1. I have to say I absolutly love it, and in general it seems very stable, with some amazing new features.
However, yesterday in the middle of a drum tracking session, weird things started happening during playback. I was tracking drums for 14 songs (over two...
Using a Fireface and Samplitude 8 with 2 UAD-1 cards, and I am truly happy with my setup for the first time ever !
Moved from Samp 7 and a MOTU2408MkII, what a difference.
Samplitude is a very impressive package, and would be my first choice unless I needed serious MIDI capabilities, which I...
It's essential for the way I record alot of sessions. I Let everyone (minus the drummer) play/sing in the control room, with no amps used, just DI's and amp modelers going to the main monitors, and also to the drummers headphone mix.

I like to start with the SDC around the 12/14 fret as you said, or where the body meets the neck, varying distance while listening on a pair of good isolating headphones. I use these http://www.remoteaudio.com/hn7506.htm
Then I listen in mono to both mics on the cans as I move the LDC. It...
No problem, I know what it's like, I live in Southern Ireland. Try-before-you-buy is often not an option.
Of the mics you listed I've owned/tried the following.
SP B1 - Useful, doesn't live up to the hype. Owned one, borrowed another, they sounded pretty different. This worries me.
AT 3035 -...
IMHO ?
Used Shure KSM series, add a used Unidyne III for guitar cabs later. If You can stretch to a KSM44 you won't regret it. It will do everything you listed well, just get used to using the switchable pattern with your room.

Male sure the bass sounds good, and is intonated well.
Spend some time with a decent mic (MD421, e602, D112) finding a good spot for a mic on your speaker cab.
Rent, Borrow, or buy a good bass DI (Avalon, Little Labs, Sansamp, Countryman)
Record both tracks down (mic and di)
Play with phase...
Boxed and unregistered.
Upgrade from this to Samp 8 master for 199, lower in some places.
Want to swap for something small and useful in the $100 - $150 range...
Cool guitar pedal,
Cool plugin(s),
Ebow,
Cheap'n'useful mic (e609, MC102, MXL603, Unidyne III etc.)
Or whatever, let me know.

Offers ?
Nathan
No, I should have made that clear actually. I got it from a discussion on the RME-Audio forum, as well as noticing quite a few posts detailing similar problems that were resolved by replacing the cable.
Nathan
It seems that some units (mine included) shipped with less than stellar firewire cables.
You will notice the following if this is the case with yours (PC):
Everything installs correctly, device shows up in device manager.
The RME icon in the tray is present, meaning the driver is working...
Dodgy cable !!!
It seems RME shipped some units with a dodgy cable, good enough to install, but mot good enough for proper communication. Heads up !
I'm gonna start a thread on this to save people some time, if they find themselves in a similar situation.
Nathan
Yeah, that's what I thought... but it is showing up in device manager... but you're right, the firewire card seems like the most likely culprit.
