I needed to add a matched pair of SDC's to my mic locker. It was the last piece of my list I needed. So, after reading so many good things about C4's (within $ limitations) compared to others on this site I made my plunge. I bought them last week or so, but tonight was my first real experiance...
I just got in the mail a DMP3 as my first intro into mic pre-amps outside of the ones in my main mixers. I plug it into my board, and try it out with a sm57 and a beyer 500. Sounds great. So, i plug in a condensor mic and press the 48v, and low end hummmmmmm. I thought it was the C4, so i...
Actually, RickW and Xstatic make some great points that reach for a larger discusion. I will use myself as an example. I record a lot of music and have put out a lot of music, mostly on my small label, but others places as well. I have gotten some great reviews, and a few bad ones. I really...
I love this site and slowly over the last month have been going through all the threads on the mic forum. It's some of the best reading I've had in a long time. I've really come to enjoy the fact hat almost every time someone brings up a SP point, DJL begins his bashing. This is almost always...
I just bought a matched pair of c4's on tuesday at Full Compass, and opened the box and had a question about them so i called studio projects. The guy who took my call was real friendly and when he answered my main questions, I asked him if they ever thought about putting out a ribbon mic. He...
I know that behringer gets a lot of flack on this board, but you got a few of them. Your response to my question has me intrigued. I wouldn't mind spending the $50 they sell for(Behringer) to experiment with them and their possibilities. I know its not the best you can buy, but is it a good...
Somebody else posted a link to these guys site, but not for this mic. Its sure looks cool. It would be nice to have lots of $ that I could throw around at stuff I probably would rarely, if ever, use.

Alos, whats the scoop on Reference Condensor Mics in general...
I recorded my bands first cd, Raymond Carverland, on a tascam 4-track. It got great reviews in Alternative Press and Magnet. This was like 6 years ago. A lot of folks tell me they still like it a lot. All I hear when I listen to it now is tape hiss. But I'm hard on myself. I wish I had had...
By far, the litmus test has to be Nick Drake's album Pink Moon. Just his voice and his guitar. That guitar sound/tone/recording is so surreal in its perfection.
Pretty much everything thats on my small label is now available to listen to for free on my website at www.soutrane.com . Just click on the SOUTRANE internet music player. There is electronica, free jazz, improvised, math rock, post rock, ambient, kitchen sink, etc...... enjoy!. Its kind of...

This may have all ready been discussed a while ago, so, sorry if its a dumb question or a repeat. I have read that phantom power hurts a ribbon mic. I have also read the opposite is true. Both sides seemed pretty impassioned. Whats the scoop?
