    Reverb and Delay Suggestions

That's a pretty good arsenal. I think most guys will agree: If you notice the reverb and delay its too much, so having some nice plug-ins is certainly a benefit. I like to run a reverb through a delay sometimes, so there is no direct delay but rather an echo of just the reverb ( send into a...

Studio monitors for a small room.

I 've used Adam's and KRK vxt's (700.00) The Vxt's are not quite as good as the Adams, but they are quite a step up from the 300.00 per pair range. Also if you do your homework you can find a solid used pair of Adams on Ebay for 800.00 used they are made well. There shouldn't be any difference...

Studio monitors for a small room.

Going from those Rokit KRK's to those Yamaha's is an absolute waste. Have you listened to KRK vxt6 monitors ? Adam A5x are another set I'd consider before Genelec. Adam A5x are a considerable step up from Yamaha 50hs and wont break your bank like Genelecs.

Multitrack and Stems available for Mixing/Mastering

Lol, like the Who's "My Generation" it does sound cool just in those few spots. I know its louder than the lead vocal! It is a bit much.

    Telecasters

True, but your still playing on polymer. I like the sound and feel of the old maple neck strat's & tele's that have the finish worn off. It seems like its in between the brightness of a polymer maple neck and a darker rosewood neck.

    Telecasters

They are incredible. I had a 73 SG Custom. Beautiful neck and great pickups.

    Telecasters

It's going to lower the value, but you can remove the gloss finish with a razor blade. My friend and I have done several. We both prefer maple necks with no gloss. When you are done you apply linseed oil. (and every time you change the strings) In a year the neck will look great. Get back to me...

Golden Age Premier PREQ-73 proper connection doubt

In the 1980's we had a single channel strip from a Trident console, we ran into a 1/2" tape 8 multitrack. Man that rig was noisy, but it sounded awesome once you put a signal through it. We learned not to record dead space. We weren't a metal band screaming through it, but we didn't do real...

'Breathe' ..appreciate any observations re mix. Thanks.

Agreed, lead vocal up 2db in first half of the song. I'd put reverb on those "Ooohs" and lower them they sound awkward. Everything else sounds great, very unique tune !

Golden Age Premier PREQ-73 proper connection doubt

Just my 2 cents, I had the GA PRE-73, I thought it was a great unit for the price. From what I remember it had a little noise but nothing to stress over. I think the sound it delivers makes up for it. I've read nothing but good things about the unit you have. Good luck! It (a little hiss)...

    Sweeping for “problematic frequencies”

Assuming you are familiar with what particular instruments look like on the analyzer. Every instrument looks different. I work in Cubase, every EQ channel is tied to an analyzer. It is a great tool.

    Sweeping for “problematic frequencies”

True, most instruments naturally double their sound pressure on certain low notes. There are several ways it can be minimized.

    Sweeping for “problematic frequencies”

What do you mean by "problematic" if something is that far off, then re-record it. Its good to learn what frequencies are friendly to which instruments before you record or mix them. All instruments have specific placements.

    DAW vs Physical Hardware

OK then, yes I'm aware I can run a mic pre into a convertor, since that is what I've always done. Sorry that wasn't clear.
