    The secret of guitar playing

Yeah! This way, at least you'll think you sound good, even when your performance has been "enhanced" to the point that you suck, really really bad.

To Tired to Write and Record

Fusion, I don't know what kind of work you do, but here is what I used to do before I quit my job to go into the poor-house.... er um I mean the music-ministry ;-) I bought a $50 hand-held recorder. I would carry that around and whenever I got an idea I would walk someplace semi private (if...

Modeling vs. Real Tube for live vs. recording

It just depends on the model, and the project, or gig. I say "model," because just saying "POD" or "Tonelab" or whatever, just doesn't get specific enough. I've found one amp model so far that Line 6 has that really is great... it's their plexi model. I've used it on a ton of recordings, mostly...

Hey Tony, Hopefully you will find the extras useful. As for my posting negligence, I've been laying low... lost my mother this summer.... and I'm a momma's boy.... she's ranked just a lil under Jesus, in my book :) I guess I've gotta grow up sometime, eh? :( Peace!! ~Shawn

    The secret of guitar playing

Here's my biggest secret I like to share with any amature musician. If you learn this, you will often be mistaken for a seasoned pro. ***********"SILENCE IS A NOTE."*********** There. Now, you know. Learn how to add just enough to a song, and never over-play. People will love to play with you...

Line 6 gearbox plugin - free upgrade

You're quite welcome. I played through a bunch of them last night for a few hours.... man... there is a lot to sort through! It will be a while before I really figure out which I like and which I don't.... 72 amp models! So far I like the plexi variac'd, and the line 6 modern hi-gain...

    Crate V33H Anyone have one?

I have 2 Crate V32 amplifiers. This is the V33H, but in combo form. I love love love them. They take pedals very well, and I get all kinds of wonderful sounds out of my amps. I would love to have the V33Head to add to my collection. Get it.... you'll never find a better amp, for twice what...

    Fender Classic Series

I own a MIM Nashville Deluxe Power Telecaster. It's a very good guitar. I would say it's got more like premium parts on it, so I'm sure that helps. I could not have managed with a heel adjust truss rod though, because when the seasons change, it almost always needs adjusting. Nothing against the...

    advice on choosing amp

Any of those might do, just fine. I would suggest the Mesa, but you won't get a Lonestar for $1000.00 That amp, or the Lonestar Special, are awesome sounding amps. I would look at the AC30 from Vox. It will be plent powerful, and you'll get more powertube saturation out of the 30 watt than the...

    Jazz guitar help

Ii-v-i Ii-v-i Ii-v-i Ii-v-i OK..... I've been working on my II-V-I. So... let's say we're in the key of "C." I'll be playing along.... Dm7-G7-CM7 .... and then to turn it around, here comes an A7. hmmmm Well.... if a guy was soloing over that progression, and here comes that A7...

    Jazz guitar help

This is true to an extent. I play for a living, but I can't really read.... I can read simple rhythms, but that's about it. Reading will only help if you have the gift. Back in my clubbing days, I just about had to whip a drummer one night because he was slowing down, and couldn't even tell. I...

    Jazz guitar help

Thanks for all the input so far everyone. Keep in mind, that I just want to start out with getting a few new chords under my fingers, so I can play a jazz tune and not sound like a complete nit-wit. Soloing? Not too worried about it yet, but I'll most likely keep my simple scales and try and...

    Jazz guitar help

Hello everyone, As has been pointed out here, my lead playing is more than a bit diatonic. (very simple, harmonically speaking) So, I'm taking a jazz band course at community college this fall. Can someone recommend to me some progressions, and what chords to use where....I need a brush-up...

    Latency/Problems with Plugins

Try increasing the latency in the ASIO settings. I have a similar problem with pops/clicks in SX with a core 2 duo and 4 gigs of ram, unless I increase it to about 5ms. I also use the 1212m card. I record at 24 bit and 44.1 Peace! ~Shawn

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe vs. Deville

A Hot Rod DLX or Deville will make your ears bleed. They are that loud, especially if you want to crank it to make it sound good, which you kinda do. At least I do, or I'm just noty satisfied. Try a Crate V-3112. 30 Class A tube watts. It's still very loud, but it will sound much better as it...
