Last years' model Netbook for USB recording?

I think a netbook probably isn't a good idea. Netbooks are made to surf the net and check e-mails. There are lots of laptops out there that can do the job why a netbook?

NOOB Question About Recording On My Mac

For about $200.00 you could get something like the M-Audio fastrack pro. It also comes with software, or you could just try to use garage band. I think the money should go to a good quality mic, If you get a good one it will last a lifetime.

    Full duplex?

I don't know cool edit but is there a monitor button you need to turn on on the track you're recording? I have a feeling though that with your current setup there would be too much latency, so you should really get an audio interface. Go here to learn about interfaces and home recording...

HP DV8T Laptop not recognizing Firepod (FP10)

Yeah presonus has very specific firewire chipsets listed on the web site and if you don't have one you're screwed for tech support. I don't know why there is such a difference with FW chips but I know from experience that it makes a huge difference. They do list some PCI FW cards but I've heard...

I just want a clean recording!!!

There are a million reasons why you could be getting hiss. Don't write off an interface because of it. Cables can be a big one. I had a hiss problem once that would change frequencies when planes flew over (weird or what?). Turned out that it was a cable. With something like a Mic have you...
