Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

Yeah, see? Samples and such have their place. A good example. But it seems to me that they are completely, overwhelmingly monopolizing the field.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I find the new lack of prominence in drums REALLY sad. Few things can make me detest a song faster than a really horrible or synthy drum sound. i.e. ALL of pop. MOST of country. I'm a drummer, and though I play guitar more often now, drums will always be my first love. So it kinda offends me...

What mics to use for recording drums in a small room

Interfaces are expensive. No two ways about it. The cheapest option I can find (and what I currently use) is a presonus rig. I've got a 10 input Presonus Firestudio Project. This link will take you to the 4 input USB version you can buy on ebay: PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL 4 in 4 Out USB MIDI...

Now that I think about it... Yep. That's about right. :(

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

:cursing: There should be two separate drum forums: One for real, acoustic drums, and one for the programmers, electric kits, and drum machines.

    I love you inside out

The tempo is dead on the whole way through. I'm not sure what you're hearing, PhilLondon. But I've listened to the intro through the second verse three times now, and I can find no change, or problem with the timing, tempo, or anything.

I like the look. Maybe I'll buy a pair- Give 'em a shot. I like the shape of the bead. Not tear drop shaped, so it won't shatter as easy.

Give Me My Remedy - New rock song.

Great tune. Good work. And I loved the way you did the lyrics.

Bringing a song into a finalized stage for recording.

I know this is an old thread, but seeing as how I started it, I figure I can bring it back to life. Lol. Robus, you have saved my life with your advice about click tracks. I can't play guitar worth a crap to a click or tone, but once I recorded a simple drumbeat and looped it, I had no problem...

Have you ever watched Buddy Rich play? That guy was ANYTHING but a "jazz tinkler"! lol. Look up some youtube videos of him. Possibly the greatest drummer ever! (though I like Louie Bellson's style myself.) I myself am NOT a jazz drummer, but you won't find any better drummers than the jazz guys...

7A's are really light sticks. More for jazz than anything else. They've got a nice light touch. In fact, they are actually what I have generally prefered playing with, but recently found that I'm gravitating to something a little heavier. But that could be because my genre preference is morphing...

I remember the first time I tried using nylon. I was playing along and it was all sounding pretty fine. And then I went to play the ride, and holy smokes! I stopped dead, it sounded so different. I haven't used them since. lol.

I know more than Promark and Vic Firth make sticks. They are just the most popular it seems. And they are all that the local music store near me carries. If I remember correctly, Greg, you use nylon? I think I remember you saying that somewhere in the forums here. Anywho, I'm gonna do a Google...

    Sticks

I know this isn't exactly a recording question. But I figured I'd ask it here. I'm having a problem choosing sticks. I've been playing drums for many years now, and have always come up against the same problem. I like Promark's sticks because of the shape of the wooden bead. It doesn't...

My lyrics - always looking for composers

I find it humorous how you view your living quarters as a studio. :D Even if it would make a horrible studio. Also, if it's something you don't like doing and don't want to... I would say don't do it.

    Song Lyrics vs Music

Dead on. I'm not offended at all. I actually mostly agree with what you said, and completely agree now that you reworded it.

    Song Lyrics vs Music

If that was in response to my comment, Jimmi, they may like a ride in "The Machine" Idk. I wasn't saying one way or another. There are literally hundreds of songwriters who write and record hit songs. "Call Me Maybe" "Sexy and I Know It" "Party In the USA" are just three songs that are crazy...

    Song Lyrics vs Music

I guess it really depends on the purpose of the artist. Are you trying to express passion and truth? Are you trying to speak to people and touch them with your music? Or are you trying to get popular and sell hits and make money? If you are the latter, I would simply quote the song Cage on the...

Securing Rights for an Artist Name.

"Famous"? I don't really know if that's what I'm shooting for. A career in music, most definitely. I'm currently going to school so I can be an optometrist as a means to support my music. I'd love to be famous, but I don't know if my music will make it big or not. But hey! I can dream! :) As...
