    Drums are the most important thing evah.... and im not a drummer :D (and im not sure why i said evah)... oh well drum sets the tempo and a drummer will keep on a click better than any other instrumentalist because its an impact instrument. boom. done deal. wooooooo!

    i believe he is saying that whenever the snare hits, his signal clips his overheads or toms or kick or what have you. so he is trying to patch it with gates. either you need to place your mics better if your toms are clipping or if its your OH's clipping then you need to do what boulderdash said.
