    Guitar Collections

Hey timtraynor, I bet we're like distant cousins or something. I've got a Hond flying V with an added tremelo but I just pulled my EMG out and stuck it in my Squire Strat! My main tone horse is my Ibanez Artist. I heard that they got sued for copyright infringement by Gibson (it's a Les Paul...

    Rogue guitars?????

Thanks for the replies but I think you guys missed my point. I'm not looking to get one, I just wanted to know if anyone had any firsthand knowledge of 'em. As for the "gotta have the best" philosophy, I don't necessarily agree. Remember, I was talking about a beginner. How many people run out...

    Rogue guitars?????

Anybody played one of these things? They claim, in Musician's Friend, that they have a model produced in an old Strat factory. It only costs $100. That's about what a new guitar out to cost. I saw a black quilted-top Rogue doubleneck that I never heard but it looked very nice. I'm not planning...

annoying pops before and after sounds, help!

Do you have any kind of wav editor like Goldwave, Cooledit, etc? Believe me, I can sympathize with the whole barebones ethic. If you don't have anything, you can at least get some shareware that you can use to figure this out. If things get really desperate, you could always post a 'bad' sample...

    Johnson Millenium 150

I need the newest system update and a loader program. The Johnson ftp site has been down forever and I can't find anyone to help me! I am also experiencing some peculiarties with the J-12. Somebody out there, please send me some good news!!!!!!

    Better than Les Paul

For looks, I'd go with an SG everytime. Mine's got a black metal-flake paintjob with two white supersport stripes and a truss rod cover that says SGSS. Yes, I am a heretic. For sound, my Ibanez Artist is a LP copy that has out Pauled every LP that I've played, and that's a few.

    American strat vs Mexican strat

I've got a Squire strat (around $300) that is pretty decent. I'd play it more except my Ibanez Artist kicks major ass! My point is, throw several Mex strats into a pile and most of them will be less-than-worthy but a few of them will be excellant guitars for the price. I put an EMG select in...

annoying pops before and after sounds, help!

Well, that could be several things. What program do you have to edit the wavs (Cakewalk, Cooledit, etc.) Do you hear the pops at the same places everytime? When looking at a wav view, do you see transients (spikes) where the pops are? Where did these 'samples' come from? What are you...

    Mod for homemade digital recorder

p.s.s. I know you're thinking, "Easy Bake Oven, what the hell??!!??," right? I figured I could get some dedicated tube compression via the 100W bulb which of course leads to the inevitable question, frosted or regular? The manual says not to try long life, soft white, or different wattages...

    Mod for homemade digital recorder

I found the "turn your 4-track cassette into an 8-track digital" link on the DIY page and have assembled the parts (toaster, FostexX-26, etc) to make my digital recorder. My question is, is it possible to substitute a Nintendo 64 pad for the mentioned game controller? If not, I've found sources...

    PLease explain D.C. offset

O.K. Dragon, I already know what your gonna think about this... I'm using a SB 16 Pug-n-Play (w/Awe 32 upgrade) and am living in my new double-wide trailer in the sticks (Hee-Hawville)!!! I guess you called it. I noticed the recurring process/offset thing before I got Cakewalk so I'm gonna...

    Software compression questions?!*%$!

Thanks for the posts guys. According to what I've read here, it looks like my friend and I were both partly right. Thanks for clearing some stuff up. sonusman, I'm always talking about your posts with my buddy and the way they seem to reflect a 'purists' approach to audio handeling. ie.. get it...

    PLease explain D.C. offset

I think I know what it is. I've noticed that even simple reverb, e.q., freq. filtering, etc. will often offset a properly zero'd wav. If this is true then should't I be Running a D.C. Offset adjustment after every processing procedure?

    Comp CD Name????

How 'bout... title-- Mixed Emotions or Transient Waves or SINeOpsiS 1999 or even Gatecrashers Vol. I or perhaps Large Reptile Droppings or we could get dada with loud fish or Bach toast or cruel Down with Corky.

    DMC's new mix

----D.C. Offset---- Doesn't appear as though people are just flooding in on this d.c. offset thing. Is it such a fundamental procedure that everyone else understands it already? If so, tell me what's up please! I know that many programs (Cooledit, Goldwave, etc) have this feature built-in so...

    D.C. offsets

Do any of the versions have a built in method of resetting a 0 voltage line? I got a plugin but it doesn't work. I'm having to make each track a wav and send out to d.c. offset in another program then import back in.

    CMiller's 1st contribution

Pretty good tune man. That synth had me picturing Laser lights, fog, and Geddy Lee. There were times when I thought his synth was a little out front but hell, I guess that's fine if you dig synth right? It's amazing how many people have got their musical rocks off to songs containing synth lines...
