Yes, jBridge is supposed to let you use 32-bit plug-ins inside a 64-bit DAW or other host software.
I haven't gotten around to cranking up Cubase Elements 9 yet, but hopefully everything will be fine. I always get 64-bit plug-ins if there is a choice between 64-bit and 32-bit, but I do have a...
I upgraded to Elements 9 a few weeks ago and installed it, but I've been so busy traveling back and forth between SC and GA that I haven't even tried to start it up yet! Hopefully when I do I won't run into some issue with the registration and the e-Licenser.
Thank you for posting a solution. I don't have a DM5, and possibly never will (I've nothing against it, I'm just not a drummer), but this should help other DM5 users who are looking for a solution. It's weird that the message with velocity 0 is going to channel 1 instead of channel 10-- that...
I'm sorry I missed it!
I see that Sugar Bytes' Unique soft synth is available bundled together with Native Elements' Komplete Elements for $50. That's not a bad deal. I bought them together at that same deal price a couple of years ago; it seemed a no-brainer, given their individual prices--...
Sustain On/Off is a Control Change message, so it sounds like you disabled Control Change messages as well as Program Change messages. Bank Select is also a Control Change message, so it's common to disable Bank Select and Program Change messages at the same time-- but if you want the Sustain...
Based on what I saw, the percussion sounds stretch from C#1 (MIDI note 25) through C6 (MIDI note 84). It might be possible to create some sort of list, but some of the sounds are difficult to describe. :)
I've already got a few other DSK plug-ins, but I think I might download all of the free ones.
To add to what Chili said, the GM standard has a clearly-defined drum kit, so you should be able to refer to any number of sites for a list of what keys play what percussion sounds. However, the GM2 standard has multiple drum kits, and other standards (e.g., GS and XG) also have multiple drum...
I just bought the update from Elements 8 to Elements 9. I won't be able to install it until I get home after Christmas, but I was at least able to buy it and download it. Yeah, the part about needing three different logins for one site is a hassle.
I apologize, I guess I got confused between one dongle and another. I don't have any dongles myself, and I do have the PACE/iLok license manager running for a number of soft synths, as well as for Avid Pro Tools First. I didn't realize that Steinberg has their own dongle. :(
PS-- I just bought...
Cubase Elements (including AI and LE) can run using an e-license and the free PACE/iLok License Manager program (but see below for additional details).
Any version beyond Elements/AI/LE must use a physical iLok dongle. :(
Regarding the PACE/iLok License Manager, once you've got that installed...
I haven't checked that out, but there's also another way to turn off automatic updates in Windows 10. There's a service which runs in the background that allows the computer to download stuff in the background, and if you disable that service it will prevent the computer from being able to...
Some controls will generate MIDI data and others will not. This varies greatly depending on the keyboard. Generally speaking, you won't be able to map a control (be it a button, knob, slider, etc.) unless it's designed to output a particular MIDI event-- and in some cases the specific MIDI event...
If you've got a given external instrument assigned to multiple MIDI tracks, it's best to play each individual MIDI track through the instrument and record the audio output in the DAW, one track at a time, so you end up with separate audio tracks for the separate MIDI tracks.
In other words...
I've seen online ads for a device that looks a lot like a pocket calculator which can be programmed to send patch changes, from simple Program Change events, to combinations of Bank Select and Program Change events, to more complex combinations that include other CC events and SysEx. (Searches...
Following are some very brief notes to help you get started with Anvil Studio.
Click File | New Song to start a new recording project. On my Anvil Studio installation I get a default of one track, "Track 1," which is an Instrument (MIDI) track. It's automatically turned on and enabled for...
The electronic/computer music magazines from the UK (Computer Music, Future Music, Music Tech) also tend to have gear reviews for synths/keyboards/controllers pretty regularly.
I'm not going to try to recommend a particular controller, since there are a lot of variables and personal preferences to consider, many of which can be loosely lumped under your least-important criteria (size):
- Number of keys? (88, 76, 61, 49, 37, 25, etc.)
- Shape of keys? (boxed...
