    FREE Multi Track Editing Software?

I'm not sure what its capabilities are as far as MIDI processing and plug-in hosting. One possibility would be to use Tracktion; the T5 version is free. REAPER might be another option, although it isn't free.

    I used to...

My guess is he means he used to visualize a sort of music video in his mind to go with the music, but now he analyzes the sounds to try to figure out the technical details of how it was produced. :)

    midi keyboard/ virtual instruments recomendation

No, I didn't mention that, so it's good that you did. I don't have aftertouch on any of my keyboards, but I wish I did! I think 49 keys is okay, since it covers the notes shown below-- and more, if you use the octave-shifting buttons. That's an adequate range for playing with both hands. Mind...

    midi keyboard/ virtual instruments recomendation

A typical DAW is a multi-purpose program that combines an audio recorder, MIDI recorder, MIDI router, plug-in host, mixer, etc. In short, if you've got Cubase, then you've already got a sequencer that's part of Cubase, so there's probably no need to buy a separate hardware sequencer. If you want...

    midi keyboard/ virtual instruments recomendation

I'm not sure whether you understand the difference between a keyboard controller and a keyboard instrument yet (you did say that you're "starting from clueless"). Keyboard controllers-- such as the Akai Pro Advance 49 and the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S-49-- can't make sounds by...

    midi keyboard/ virtual instruments recomendation

Some brands of keyboard controllers come with free licenses to download a soft synth, sample library, or virtual instrument-- not to mention a free license to download a lite DAW-- so you might want to take that into consideration when shopping around and trying to choose between two or more...

    trying to buy Elelments 9

I bought, downloaded, and installed the upgrade (Elements 8 to Elements 9) a few months ago when I found out it was available. But then I never even tried to activate it! That was mainly because Cubase isn't my main DAW, and I've been tied up with other things-- but reading about the problems...

I need Kontakt in my vst instrument list

The following thread isn't about Cubase, but it is about Kontakt 5.6, so perhaps it might be helpful? https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/208037829-Logic-9-Kontakt-5-6

I'm an idiot when it comes to MIDI - need very basic help!

I see that a number of posts were made while I was responding. :) For what it's worth, I agree with Rob-- rather than muddling about with a lot of individual utilities and programs, it would be a lot simpler if you'd get a decent DAW that comes with a decent set of virtual instruments. Or get a...

I'm an idiot when it comes to MIDI - need very basic help!

The problem isn't MIDI latency per se, by which I mean that the latency isn't between the keyboard and the computer, therefore you shouldn't need to make any changes in the way you're connecting your keyboard to your computer-- you can leave that part alone. Of course, if your keyboard has...

    Deepmind 12 track

My only criticism of the track was that the vocoder made it difficult for me to understand the lyrics, although it might not be the use of the vocoder (which sounded great) so much as that the vocals blended in with the level of the surrounding music. Maybe if they were accentuated a bit to make...

    Deepmind 12 track

Thank you for those honest comments. I'd seen a few gripes about the keybed on a forum where pro keyboardists hang out, but I find that pros often have criticisms which sort of go over my head-- not that I don't understand what they're saying, but rather that I lack their "discriminating...

    Deepmind 12 track

Ooh, a DM12! How are you liking it? I mean, it sounds like you're enjoying it-- :) nice track, by the way-- but I'd love to hear your comments about the DM12. Or did you already post a review of it that I missed?

any good keyboard software u can recommend?

Yes, I have the free basic Anvil Studio package, but none of the paid add-on modules. I'm impressed with how many features the free version has. :)

    Question about pitching software

What about Riffstation? I've never tried it myself, so I don't know if you have to run an MP3 or other audio file through "pre-processing," or if you can just change the pitch and/or tempo right off the bat, but it's free to try. EDIT: PS -- There's nothing magical or "correct" about 440.0 Hz...

Cubase 9 - I missed the implication of being 64 bit only for stability

The DAW I generally use the most is the 64-bit version of Acoustica Mixcraft, and it can run either 32-bit or 64-bit plug-ins without any problem. I don't know whether they're using jBridge to do that, or something else-- maybe even their own code-- but I certainly didn't need to install jBridge...

Cubase 9 - I missed the implication of being 64 bit only for stability

By the way, I just saw this... https://jstuff.wordpress.com/ Since Cubase 9 is specifically mentioned, you should be sure to use the new beta version with it.
