Rectos are pretty well known for having a boominess/loose bass that is hard to tame, and this would definitely be accentuated when doing palm mutes. No slam or anything; you just may have to set your amp in a way that wouldn't necessarily sound right for live playing.
I never found the e609 to be thin-sounding, and I definitely prefer it to the SM57. However, I have the earlier black version rather than the silver version. I've heard those sound better than the silvers--is that true?
I recently ordered a V69 as a little Christmas present to myself after doing a lot of research about what mic I wanted. The thing that confounded me was that people describe the V69 as simultaneously 'dark' and 'sizzly'. How does this work, exactly? My main goal was to get an alternative to...
Thanks for the tips, dgatwood. Since I've already ordered a replacement, I'll try replacing the motherboard first, and if that doesn't work I'll go down your line of suggestions. It looks like the KG7 board wasn't included in that recall but the KT7 was, which is a similar model number.
I work at the call center for zZounds and people order a heck of a lot of Behringer stuff. I'm not really allowed to bring up how much it sucks unless they ask about it specifically, in which case I can suggest that they maybe invest more money in a more solid product. I feel kind of bad every...
I did two complete formats and reinstalls from scratch, and neither one fixed the problem. At the moment, being a DAW only, all I have on there is my recording software and that's it.
I'm running Windows XP SP1. I tried flashing the BIOS and updating the motherboard drivers a long time ago...
My tracking computer is a venerable AthlonXP 1500+ based rig. It's running on an Abit KG7 with half a gig of RAM and a Delta 66 synced with a Delta 1010lt for sound. It used to be rock-solid back when I built it in 2002 or so, but for a while now it has been liking to freeze completely solid...
I went ahead and got it. It looks pretty cool but I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. I'll do some testing with that and the Yamaha and see how it measures up. I hope it sounds at least roughly as good because I like the flexibility and in/out options on the Alesis a lot better
I think I'll just buy the Alesis, and if I don't like it, I'll have no problem reselling it at that price. I doubt I'd keep the Yamaha if I liked the Alesis though--I'd have no real need for it.
I can get a used Alesis Studio 24 console for $150, and I think it would be a good step up from my Yamaha MX12/4 just for the better connectivity (i.e. direct outs on every channel) alone. My only concern is how good the preamps are. Has anybody ever used one of these?
I'd prefer to buy a large diaphragm mic at this point, though.
Right now I'm thinking either the C1, the NT1000, the M-Audio Solaris or Luna, or maybe the AT4040.
Duly noted...I forgot to mention that when I recorded at jordokid's house in Spain way back when, we did vocals with his C3 and I found it to be a pretty impressive mic. Is the C1 basically the same mic as the C3 but with only one of the patterns?
It's high time I buy a second large-diaphragm condensor mic. For several years now, my only one has been a CAD M-37, which I actually like quite a lot as an all-around 'point it at anything' type workhorse. And I do have access to my roommate's Rode NT1, but I'm not a huge fan of it (no...
Here's a neat little program that displays a guitar fretboard from the top down, then picks notes at random and asks you what they are. It's a fun way to find out how well you know your axe. I played it a couple of times and my best result was 92 right and 0 wrong in 5 minutes. Anybody care...
