Tips to improve please :P (Pearl Jam - Black)

If by "it" you mean breath support, I have to say, "no". However, the clip in the OP sounds way too deliberate imo, to the point of being artificial. Improvement is all about experimentation, so here is one experiment I can suggest. The amount of breath support required for the songs you have...

Tips to improve please :P (Pearl Jam - Black)

Support, support, support... He talks classical singing, but don't worry, the technique (appoggio) works generally. He also talks about "single placement" -- which you can ignore, unless you want a classical timbre (chiaroscuro) that he mentions. chiaroscuro translates to "light-dark", and...

    After a bottle of wine...

Very noticeably better, man! Much more convincing! More fluent, and a good, round timbre on those lower notes, with cleaner onsets. But I can still hear tension or "reaching" on those higher notes. It is not a pitch issue, it just sounds like a breath thing, to me. I can hear good...

    After a bottle of wine...

Yes, breath support is a technique that ensures you always have enough air pressure in your lungs to make the sound that you want. It is a central topic in singing. You only have to google or youtube "breath support" or "diaphragmatic breathing" to learn about it. There is so much on the topic...

    After a bottle of wine...

Yes, your pitch intention seems fine to me, but there seems to be instability in execution, especially with your onsets. Have you learned and practiced "breath support"? Some of the onset issues I am hearing are typical of lack of breath support, as if you are not retaining enough air pressure...

    Don't touch that!! (pitch correction)

Here is my next grumble: In the first video, it says that Melodyne "averages out" the actual pitch trace, and it does emphasize that the blobs shown in Melodyne are really only handles, rather than anything precise. I think that this is where some of the questionable editing choices may be...

    Don't touch that!! (pitch correction)

(I don't own or use Melodyne. Never have, and I am not trying to promote it. But, if this thread suddenly disappears.......I'll know why...) I was watching this Melodyne masterclass video. Experts discussing the finer points of vocals, I find generally interesting. This guy explains himself...

How to change the pitch of an acapella without change the KEY

What are we talking about? "...I forgot what day..." and "...'allo, 'allo, 'allo...." ??? If so, the change is caused by the singer. As for autotune......I said before....it's a sound! It's meant to sound autotuned. Some people like it. That's "art" for you.

    The "I can't sing" people!

If you are talking about the chances of making a career out of singing, then I agree: the opinion of a qualified person with the appropriate experience "counts" more. But we know, even there that it can be very hit and miss. Rob A, has already given a personal example.

    The "I can't sing" people!

Pecking order (which I mentioned earlier) is an irrelevance. If C likes A's singing and B doesn't, "counting more" doesn't come into it. C can follow B like a sheep, on not, as he wishes.

    The "I can't sing" people!

It is usually about a relationship between singer and listener. You can't reduce that to an attribute of the singer. "A likes how B sings", cannot be reduced to, "A sings well". "A dislikes how B sings" cannot be reduced to "B cannot sing". That is like saying orange and yellow clash so...

    The "I can't sing" people!

I commend FingerzAndKeyz for having nailed the jelly to the wall with such precision and aplomb! :p There is always that contention in art of trying to separate good from bad while avoiding a definition or limitation of art. Some people critique art using pragmatic subjective language. Others...

When is it "too late" to learn vocal techniques?

It can take 5 minutes to "progress". Over the years that progress will accumulate. So, unless you are really concerned about cost, I think it is best approached by singing for the love of it, and not worrying about speed of progress. It can be like watching paint dry, anyway, whatever your age...

    The "I can't sing" people!

Sarcastic appeal to authority is not science. That is all you have shown above. You shouldn't let appeal to authority override what you can critique in black and white. For a start, I cannot recall a research paper picking its sample population by asking musically impaired folk to invite...

    The "I can't sing" people!

I read an article a while back, about aphantasia, which is a condition of having no "mind's eye". People with aphantasia cannot picture things or people. After reading the article, I wondered if there was an acoustic equivalent of no "mind's ear". That could be the cause of yet another kind of...

    The "I can't sing" people!

Very interesting example. My problem with the piano thing is that, although I could tell you when the notes change, I may sometimes tell you that the same note is two different notes. Maybe second time you pressed the key harder or something, I don't know. If I hear a difference, I am not...

    The "I can't sing" people!

The thread is not really about tone deafness. It is about people who are most likely to have an advantage in musicality, but who claim that they cannot sing. The reasons are less likely to be psychoacoustic. Yep. "wow". I don't buy it. It shouldn't be difficult for you to google up the...
