    Who Destroyed Metal?

YES! I cannot express how much I agree with this. The best stuff is RARELY the most currently popular. You can apply this to films, books, music or pretty much anything creative.

    Who Destroyed Metal?

You're right, and it's lack of acceptance as compared to the 80's is more than likely what made it start getting really good again.

    Who Destroyed Metal?

Oh, and I definately agree that Metal really hasn't gone anywhere. To me, it's about the only genre left with any real respectability, even as perverted as it got with all those shit ass nu metal bands. The entire 'indie' world can officially suck it.

    Who Destroyed Metal?

Yeah I know, best is indeed a strong word. He's definately my personal favorite. You pretty much have to be a good drummer to play metal anyway. Unless of course you're in Venom or Darkthrone maybe. It's one thing to play all that shit, it's another thing altogether to be that tasty about...

    Who Destroyed Metal?

Agreed. They're not reinventing the wheel or anything, I just think they're better than just about anyone right now. A lot of people were bummed at the major label debut, but I love it. They're moving closer to slightly more melodic stuff, and I think it's perfect. To me, they sum up old...

    What is my mix missing???

If it were me, I'd find a subtle room verb for the drum kit, and I'd try a very short stereo delay on the vocal (panned out a bit maybe). Their both just so painfully dry.

    Favorite Recordings

Meantime....jesus. I need Ibuprofen from just thinking about that record. I'll always prefer Strap it on, but they both kill.

    Favorite Recordings

I second Albini. People will always gripe about his outspoken nature, but he makes rock bands sound how they should sound, like they're throwin down proper in a good room, and that's it....I like pretty much everything he does. All the Jesus Lizard and Tar records are completely stellar, and...

    Alice Cooper anyone?

Very good shit man. Im a huge early Cooper fan, and that stuff is still criminally overrated. Someone needs to do "Long way to go".... As a side note, 2 of Quiet Riot's hits were Slade songs. Slade rules too. Anyway, I raise my glass....good work.

    Protools LE problem

This is a random shot, but sometimes PT will have issues with other software. Did you by chance install anything at all around the time you started having the problem?

    BFD question

All you would need is a basic midi controller of some kind. Sure, you could use the mouse to draw in hits and velocity, but I promise you that would be a huge pain in the ass.

    New sweaty rock/pop action

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought Bowie either. Thanks a bunch for the kudos. That's me on the lead guitar if I may toot my own horn a bit.

Cool yeah thanks, I would have never thought XTC.

    BFD question

You can absolutely make an entire song with BFD (Big Fuckin Drums). It's a drum sample module played via midi. What you play are actual extremely well recorded samples. Long story, it sounds incredible. I've done tons with it.

    Recording guitars with sm58?

I wouldn't recommend using a PG58 to record pretty much anything. Although an SM57 would be more 'proper', if you're losing brightness, try the 58 up close to the cone, and maybe try unscrewing the windscreen.
