Set drummer aren't the only drummers who rock...

That was cool, but I'd still rather listen to Back in Black. :D

    Underappreciated Synths?

Korg Mono/Poly But then again, I love big fat Tangerine Dream sounding sequences. It's really best for that.

Outboard Reverb for under 200 bucks.

The Alesis microverbs are surprisingly really great sounding little boxes especially for the money. You can usually get one for under 100 bucks for sure.

Is there wa TRUE way to EQ and a FAKE?

This is a very old argument/discussion. I personally don't like to eq at all going to ye olde harddrive because I simply don't trust my own ears after helping tweak loud instruments, and besides, I'm unfortunately not in a situation where I have complete isolation in the control room. On the...

    Mixing Symetry?

I definately second this. The fact that everyone does everything the same way is a big reason why music sucks so bad these days. Just my opinion.

    The "Color" of a song/instrument

Yeah, sometimes people will come up with funny ways to describe what they're looking for. I haven't run into colors yet, but I distinctly remember dealing with a particularly inexperienced 'musician' who kept throwing the word 'cosmic' at me over and over. It took me a while to decode that...

Tips for Recording HEAVY Distorted Guitars

I'm going to mirror a popular sentiment that's very right on the money. You need to concentrate on getting them to sound as good as they can before you even begin recording. If they have terrible tones and terrible sounding equipment, all you're going to do is capture those terrible sounds...

Hopes of Metal,Solos, and Speed coming back strong...

That rules. Sacred Reich was a staple of my teen years. I lived with 'American Way' and especially 'Surf Nicaragua' for at least two solid years. If I remember right, I think I saw them with Napalm and Sepultura. Fucking great show of course. Sepultura's 'Arise' had just come out at the time.

Hopes of Metal,Solos, and Speed coming back strong...

Yeah do. They're not for everyone sure, but I'm a huge fan. It's somewhat challenging stuff, they're not the most straight ahead band, but it's still very fucking metal. The guitars and drumming are nothing less than consistantly stellar, and I have yet to hear another metal band do nearly...

Hopes of Metal,Solos, and Speed coming back strong...

Haha, oh fuck, yeah I do remember that. Now Ozzy's meeting the Queen, and being invited to presidential banquets. Oh how shit changes...Reagan wanted people like Ozzy out of the public spotlight. Bush invites him to dinner. Yeah, it's insanely redundant just how retarded the media is in...

Hopes of Metal,Solos, and Speed coming back strong...

No doubt Travis. I miss the days when Ozzy was scary in a non 'crazy old lady' kind of way. My mom totally bought into all that media stuff about how bad heavy metal music was for kids, while all the boring mainstream stuff was jam packed with role models. To quote Bill Hicks, "since when...

Hopes of Metal,Solos, and Speed coming back strong...

I raise my glass to Metalhead for this post, and completely agree. I'll never forget being loaned a Kill Em All cassette as soon as it came out and ruining my hearing with it while delivering newspapers in the neighborhood. It was like the most extreme underground shit going. I had to hide...

    Who Destroyed Metal?

If memory serves me right, the Mastodon bass player and drummer were the rhythm section on the 'In the Eyes of God' LP. All the other LP's have different bands on them.
