getting rid of that karaoke vocal sound

not bad well the mix sounds pretty good. Very natural as someone stated before, but i would compress the vox more and definatly don't add at 200. That is all mud... i also woudn't take out at 1k. But rather make him sound more present by air sounds. Like boost 15 k just a bit or so with a...

    new computer, pro audio 9?

yep yep yep i bascially have close to the same set up you guys do, except my comptuer isn't a dell. I just built it myself. But it is fast and good, won't bother listing specs its as fast as you can get... Anyway, cake walk pro audio 9 does work great with xp and all that jazz, and will work...

    kick w/ d112

well... well, here are some eq tips, low thump end sound- around 62hz, reducing some mids makes it less boxy or boomy -500 hz ish... 2000hz is where some of your attack is, and then the higher up you go, the more your kick starts to sound like lars ulrich's kick drums(metallica sound). Also...

How can I get phat drums for a metal song??

ahhh yes... well i know what your talking about, i have a metal band in my studio right now!! ha.... Anyway, what i did was make sure there was a lot of attack on the drum sounds. Kick i raised at about 2.5 k with a graph type eq and i changed the Q to about .6 which broadens the range around...

I have almost every mic and I am tracking drums

why? well i can see why u might want too... but you stil dont' need to, if ya get my drift. Bascially its a pain to get correct phase relationships between the top and bottom mic... so i prefer to just not do that. Also you can get snap from your overheads and just by equing it right...

I have almost every mic and I am tracking drums

where is this school?? what kinda school is this?? is this highschool or a college or what?? and how did they get the money to buy all these mics? i mean holy shit. Those neumanns aren't cheap, ha. But yeah that sounds decent. I dont' normally use a ev for the kick though... i think the 52...

    Mixing Drums

hhmm.... unless you can pull off a "when the levy breaks" then i would suggest getting more mics on the drums. One mic is not going to get you commercial proffesional drum sound. But it still records them non the less... Good luck.

first try from my new "studio"

well... a bit better, but you need to cut some lows on those vocals i think, they just sound too muddy, and maybe give those vocals a bit more presance. Reverbwise its fine now, (don't sound like your in a tunnel) Good pre-production is sounds, just need some mixing work. Good luck.

so I recorded the drums... now what?

well... i used to do 1 track drums... then i realized i would have to spend a bit of money in order to get decent drum tracks...(its not really practical to do it all in 1 track...)

    Solidtube

ha... well i suppose that was said a bit uh.. dumb. What i meant was that depending on the vocal charateristics you sometimes won't notice the difference because the solid tube might be better on that voice than on the u87. Now i am just talking about the u87 and the solid tube by the way...

    Solidtube

yo well akg mics are good in general, the akg solid tube is one i like specifically. I have used it on my own vocals and like it very well. It is the one of the main mics the studio i go to uses too, and they don't get crappy sound. They use the solid tube and the u87 and depending on the...

    Hi Hat trouble

yeah... well i know alot of engineers that record hi-hats on drums. I normally do, but i hear what your saying just taking your overheads higher. Not a bad idea at all, but you can generally "control" the sound more if you do tighter miking, i think that is why some people like to do it. I...

Anyone here NOT bought a Sennheiser e609 Silver yet?

full compass yeah, that place is pretty cool. I live in madison wisconsin and pretty close to the in house store and stuff. Not a whole lot in there... but you can get just about whatever you want without having to get it shipped. I was wondering if anybody ever got anything from them...

    pre-amp selection

ok, well i have seen and heard of a fair amount of crappy and extremely good pre-amps, is there anything out there that will give me great sound and isn't gonna run up my budget like mad? (i know the more you spend the better it is and all...) I would say i am willing to go with like 300 bucks...

    Metal heads please view!!

not bad yeah, this mix sounds very damn good to me, i don't personally like the snare drum sound very much, but everything else sounds very good, could use some more mids( i did read about the guitarist, but fuck him! haha...) Vocals are litterally perfect though. Very nice. By the way, how...

drum samples!?! cakewalk pro audio 9

ok, what i want to know is... How can i insert drum samples i have into cakewalk. Bascially what i want to do it to record drum tracks like normal and if one part of the kit isn't that great sounding, then i will add some extra sample recordings, which i would have already done, and layer that...
