How Many Guitars do you own

I found myself in the store catagory now. I have 5 Gibson, 2 Fender, 3 ESP or LTD, 1 Ibanez, 1 Dean, 1 Music Man I recently decide I need to clear out offshores. I've got enough US and MIJ that the others don't cut it so why bother.

How good a guitar do I need?

Ok, if you haven't heard enough already let me give it a shot. In my opinion of the order of importance for a direct recording guitar... ...intonation, ...action, ...pickups, - easily fixxed with $90 for bridge pu ...inspiration -feel in your hands ...tonewood -people will pooh pooh this but...

Pro Tools 12.5 Works Fine With the DIgi 002 Rack

Really good to hear, I've got an 002R just glaring at me. It would be nice to get a little more use out of it.

    Stand up Studio Desk

I'm pondering a heavy duty metal shelf to house all my basic tracking gear in my jam room. My room is only 14'x14' so I need something with a slight footprint that won't be in the way when I'm strapped on and riffing. I'm thinking about a 4' wide 18' deep 4' high gladiator shelf. Has anyone...

Help me to make a shed into a makeshift studio.

I like that product. I could see alot of people using that material if its reasonably priced.

Record drum in live rehearsal, spills, Dynamic or condenser

There's alot of good advice there. What I do since my live rehearsals are meant to be quick demos. To me that means something you can quickly get to mp3 or cd quick without alot of batch processing. Often I will discard a good percentage of these recordings once new songs are close to being...

    dead simple podcasting setup

A slick, simple option is to pick up a Zoom handy recorder. Very mobile, very robust and delivers good audio quality. You can run whatever mics and misc sources into it and it goes straight to SD card. This is way more stable then relying on a Mac or Pc and you can option to mix it down later...

TC Helicon Voice Jam for iPad...pretty bad ass looper

OMG, I checked out the Run Rabbit demo and freaked out. I'm thinking about all the Mike Patton noise you could make with this.

    Blankets for sound dampening/baffling

Just so everyone is on the same page here I picked up some of these blankets and the will work like you guys stated in a quick pinch but these are not nearly as dense as moving blankets used by movers. Density being a big deal here, I'd actually spend some money on some good thick blankets for...

    Singing while playing vs Tracking

Bleed free tracks are ideal but the performance is what we're here for. If the overall music isn't intended to be guitar and vocal only then sure track sep. but there is a syncopation between guitar and vocals that are lost (IMHO) if not tracked together.

    Live off the floor software

May as well dedicate the G5 to the jam room. So I'm thinking a pair of SM57's into a Mbox Pro2 into the G5. Quickly backing up recordings to SD to send home with bandmates.

    Live off the floor software

I guess I should expand. I'm looking for opinions on current experience to simply record in the heat of band practice without having my back to everyone when i should be tuning my guitar. Yes I have been around, many generations of Macs and OS versions. I've used Audacity (didn't realize it...

    Live off the floor software

Looking for good software to record on a Mac that either record from digi 002 rack or mbox pro2 for capturing jams without spending too much time geeking. I'm looking for stereo most the time but would like to work towards a multi channel setup for demoing. I like the idea of capture from...

Studios with big ass mixers anyone??, but why!!

I remembering having two people running different sections of faders (manually, in real time...) while mixing down. Good fun, an interesting mix was a performance. I miss that.

don't sit on it too long

I go through this all the time. Coming back to work on project that have lost momentum and taking too much time to generate a clean head. I think of it much like the process we work in with modern DAWs, just because you can eq every microscopic freq., edit every breath out of a vocal or compress...

What should I do with this Roxul??

That was my understanding, in the past I did a whole dropped ceiling with the fiberglass, with regular tile to support the lighting. Sounded great but now your whole ceiling in flamable. Over time you start to wonder if it was a good idea.

What should I do with this Roxul??

The big deciding factor for me between fiberglass and roxul is the rigid fiberglass is not rated flame retardant so I feel better using roxul when I'm hanging treatments up for good.
