I agree completely. in my opinion its not the best sounding stuff, but hey Im doing it for uni so i just gotta go along with it. not that i think its crap. but as you say its not pink floyd.

A matched pair have to be exactly the same. Two of the same mike . I do believe the only way to be sure you have a matched pair is by buying them as a matched pair. even if u bought2 414s they prob wouldnt be the same. i hope im right. otherwise id vote for one mike to be called Fred.

Theres a guy in the book " Behind the Glass" by howard massey and he talks about recording funk guitar i think. He says that he got the best results DIing the guitar.

I found a bunch of books.. they are kinda helpfull, but most seem to care more about john and paul and how fantastic they were rather than the actual recording side of things. Theres a book written called 'Recording the Beatles' but apparently its been ready for release for more than a year but...

any one who has recorded a beatles tribute band, or tried to emulate the sounds produced by sir george martin, geoff emerick and co? I am studying recording techniques used by/for the beatles and im just interested in the techniques used by people more recently to capture the same sounds.

has any body had any trouble with phantom power on the CAD M179? I read something that they need alot more current than other condenser mics... Also has anyone tried using two different (but similar) mics in a stereo set up? were the results bad? I spose it kinda defeats the object if the mics...
