    Mars goes bankrupt...

Yes, chapter 11 is not the end of it, but in this industry where new products hit the market every week, it's tough to stay afloat if the people you're buying from won't sell to you because of a questionable solvency. I wouldn't sell anything on credit unless I knew for sure the other party...

    A soundproofing alternative please...

I have double pane windows and sound used to still come into my room so I bought a couple of moving blankets (available at Home Depot type store). That did it! The room is quiet enough now to use my condensers.

    Bass Bass Bass

I recently bought a Yamaha bass, 5 string. After looking at other basses in the under $400 range especially Ibanez and Jackson (didn't like the sound of the MIM Fenders to begin with) I liked the sound of the Yamaha BB405. They have a four string version, the BB404, that comes with passive...

    Rusty Strings!

I'll second that! I wipe my strings right after I'm done playing and that's helped extend the life of my strings as well as keeping that nasty smell off my fingers. :)

    SF peninsula guitar repair?

Have you tried the little shop behind Gelb Music in Redwood City, I think is called the Amp Lab (yes, they also do guitars). Or the guys at Gelb may be able to recommend a place, they're very helpful.

What's wrong with my set up/technique?

If N-track sounds like forking out too much money, try Powertracks, at $25 it's a breeze to learn and you don't need the fastest computer to run it. Read more about it here: http://www.pgmusic.com/index.html Cheapest price I've found: http://www.proaudiomusic.com/PG%20music/power_tracks.htm...

    Entry-level home recording software

Cakewalk's Home Studio 2002 is supposed to be a good entry level software. Some people even call it Sonar light. Check out Cakewalk's website for a comparisson on some of their products. Ooops, almost forgot, I've seen it for as low as $80

    New Moderator

If it ain't broken, don't f@ck with it... The people that hang out here seem like a good bunch, there seems to be civilized discussions that don't need a policeman. And I don't think we receive excessive spam. What good is a moderator for if he's stepping into everything that is being...

    Zon basses?

Thanks Hugh. I know these guys are pricey, so I'm looking for a good deal on a used one. Just in case I don't find one, are there any other basses that would compare to the Zons.

Glad I bought the V-AMP and not the POD.

The main point about this discussion is that both the Pod and V-amp are amp "MODELLERS", not real amps, only attempting to re-create a set of tones. It's kind of like owning a sound module with 50 piano sounds. It's much easier to move up or down the patches rather than carrying a different...
