Weve got the right room for that particular sound. Weve got a great kit, and a Supra. We can do the cigs on the snare track ect ect. Im just looking to try and make my own drum sound, but Ringos Plastic Ono Band sound, especially the snare, is what Id like to at least base it off of. Its my...
Im trying to get an idea of what mics were used on Ringo's kit on the Plastic Ono Band album. Does anyone know the setup and mics used? Particularly the snare.
I forgot to mention what our mic setup for drums is. 2 OH's - Top Snare - Bottom Snare - Kick. Im going for the old fashioned approach. So I think If I get the OH's miced right, room noise shouldnt be a huge issue for me. Mo close drum mics, mo problems.
My main concern right now is just the reverb. My drummer is pushing for this probably because he knows that the drum sound in that room is to die for. Thats all fine and well with me, I want a great drum sound. But then my focus turns to how the cabs are going to sound miced. I think theres only...
Odly enough I ended up going with the Road Worn Jazz Bass. Absolutely COULD NOT be happier with this bass. I added the chrome covers, which to my ears, added a little something to the sound, almost more of a sustain to it. Strung it with Labellas flatwounds and I just get a great sound with a...
My drummer and I were talking about where we could live track other than his drum room, which is oddly enough well soundproofed to a certain extent, is far too small to get any good sound, especially on drums, which are getting cut all across the Frequency range, especially the mid range. I can...
Im looking to upgrade my studio, and right now im looking at some new condensors. The U67 is one of my favorite mics, but a real one, or even the TLM, would cost me an arm and a leg. Does anyone now of any good copies by other companies? Definitely looking to go tube if possible.
I personally dont think there is any substitute for an amp. I wont use any software as my base guitar track...EVER. I will however use it on dubs. If I had it my way Id have a Fender Super Reverb, a Marshall Bluesbreaker, a Vox AC30, and more tone pedals than you could shake a stick at, and that...
Yeah, that was the main issue I was trying to avoid. I didnt want to have an obvious difference between GAP tracks and the tracks going direct in to the Tascam US-2000. All Im really looking for is a pre to help give my new tube mics that "wow" factor. I was thinking of picking up two GAP's for...
Me and my drummer have been recording guitars/drum kit base tracks seperately for some time now, using a two channel Tascam USB interface. Now I can get by with recording like this If I have to, but its just not yielding great results. At least not good enough for me to self-record my own 14...
I have a Rode NT1A. Its a pretty good mic for the price. But honestly if youre going to buy a large condensor, dont be cheap. Right now the third item on my studio upgrade list is either the Nuemann u87 or the remake of the u67, behind a new bass and a new pair of monitors.
I always get there early and Im cool with the host of the shows so it should be all good. I figure I could cut out my main vocal track and leave in the harmonies and sing over those.
At the venue I play at im sure I could talk to the sound guy enough to at least get his opinion on it. Or use some kind of chain effect (like a stomp box for guitar) to get reverb on my vocals, I bet they make those.
Bump. Ive done some more recording and I think the bass sound im leaning for is one with a lot of low end. Can anyone compare the differences between the P/J/EB-3 In terms of its low end sound/tone?
I feel like with the J Bass I wouldnt get a good low end in my mixes. It sucks that all basses...
Its not that I cover songs from the 60-70s, but that I love vintage instruments (or ones that come close to sounding like them). There are certain bands (The Mamas and the Papas) that are really special to me. I like to use certain rigs/set ups from those certain bands as kind of an ode to them...
My only issue with the HD280's is
1. The coil cable. Easy to change but still an issue for me. I have an extension cable but it hangs down and pulls due to the connector on it.
2. They are a little TOO tight. But I think with time they pads will change and be more comfortable.
I walked in to my local shop just for a set up today, and I sat down and played the Fender Road Worn Jazz (my very first choice) and although I didnt plug in any basses I played in, I loved the way it felt. I played the Rick 4003 as well, the neck was a little awkward. Didnt hate it, but It was...
Id describe my music kind of like electric Sunshine Pop/Folk Pop/Psychedelic Pop. I think with the right set of flatwounds, the use of the pick, the EB3 would work well. Any thoughts regarding major differences between the "Faded" model which is cheaper, and the Standard one?
