I'm a recording noob still, so what will using that do as opposed to just going into one of the Ins on the mixer? Better signal?
And thanks to everyone else for their input. Doesn't seem like going DI is too popular, but I'll check out that other amp that was talked about as well.
I'm not exactly in the most ideal of recording situations. Vocals seem to come out okay, but my guitar just seems to have too much room sound to it. I was in the market for a new amp anyway, but I figured now I'll try and look for amps that have either a Line Out jack or an XLR out jack that I...
I just upgraded to 2.0 today and I couldn't be happier! Fixed all my tempo problems. It works great now. I can do tempos off the grid just like I need to, without affecting the settings of the previous marker.
I love Reaper, but I had to dump it due to limitations with tempo changes in MIDI. :(
Once Justin splits the Time Sig/Tempo change tools into two functions, and allows me to do tempo changes OFF the grid, then I'll be back to Reaper in the blink of an eye.
I don't know if this is an option for you, but you could save a lot of money by building your own computer, and I'm sure lots of us would be willing to help you decide what parts to get.
As far as libraries, East West makes amazing stuff in my opinion. I love both the Symphony Orchestra packs...
I was using Cool Edit, then recently used Reaper for several months, and now I might switch to Sonar 6 or 7.
Reaper's limited MIDI capability (namely tempo changing within a song using VSTs) is forcing me to switch. Brings a tear to my eye to have to let it go over something as small as the...
Nothing too bad, just the standard "forgetting lyrics" and playing after too many drinks.
I replaced a whole verse with "Na na na's" at my bands first Battle of the Bands. The song was old, but the lyrics were redone just a few days before the gig, and I still wasn't used to singing them...
Yeah just post in here with some impressions after you get it. Even if it doesn't turn out to be that great, there are other Firewire options out there.
I assume I could get a Firepod, and get a separate control surface, and it would kind of have the same effect. The only problem is that the...
Budget? Well....so far I'm spending $1,300 on a new computer, a couple hundred on Drumkit From Hell Superior, $400 on monitors, and $500 on a really nice desk with rack space and everything.
Roughly, that's $2,600. I was only expecting on capping at $3k. I still want to have money for my...
Firewire is that important these days huh? Eh, I guess I can spring for it. I know I can EQ in the program (I'll be using Reaper btw); I just feel more comfortable with the "traditional" setup I guess. I was gonna go for Cubase, but I really don't need all that extra stuff. All I need is...
No, I've never seen anything like that before. It looks interesting, but there doesn't appear to be that much in the way of EQ'ing. I know a lot of people like to mix ITB, but I feel more comfortable with a mixer when I'm recording drums.
Plus I didn't plan on having any firewire ports in the...
So, I've got a lot of things already decided (computer, monitors, mics etc), except one thing: what sound card & mixer, or what "interface" to use (usb, firewire, etc).
I had never even heard of a mixer-less setup until I found this site a year ago. I don't even know how the hell you are...
