what does your shop charge for a setup?

80-90 is high for my neck of the woods. I know 3 phenomenal techs who do setups between $45-$60. One of these guys was the main USA QC guy for Dean to boot. Then there is the guy on Craigslist who advertises complete setups w/ restring for $15..... in this case you would certainly be getting...

I was just kidding... as the JC is kind of known as a jazzer.

    Best Amp for using pedals...

If you want clean headroom where your pedals do all the work, a Twin can get nice and loud w/out breakup.... also a Roland JC will do great, but if you play really heavy music, your marshall/boogie playin pals will assume you are gay! :)

    Might buy me a Taylor

sounds like it might be a good deal.... make sure and bring a dental mirror to make sure there arent any other unseen issues under the hood. They are prolly "firesaling" these as theyve already gotten pd by their insurance company. Let us know how it turns out!

Let me get this straight, this pic: http://www.DannyDotGuitar.com/02.gif That you originally posted.... by chance did you pull the saddle up out of the slot for the pic or was it shimmed that high? From the new pic w/ the pencil line, it doesnt appear that it would be seated that high.

    looking after a tube amp

Anyone know about the build quality on the newer Traynors? Used to play through a buds Traynor twin and it had tone for days, but I think it was a 70s model. Pretty good bang for the buck from what Ive heard.

    looking after a tube amp

Try not to let drunks pee or puke on it! True story on the pee part.. Years ago a Drunken hottie wizzed all over my twin while it was on standby during a set break.... wish I woulda left it powered during that break...... Also, the Peavey Classic Line is a great choice for a tube amp if you...

    Cracked bridge

Dude.... stop being so defensive! I dont wanna get into a pissing war about who has worked on more guitars..... but any tech will give you a major caveat for putting 13s on an acoustic. I have seen many guitars that had straight necks and sound bridges belly up or lift after ONE NIGHT with...

    Cracked bridge

Doesnt matter where the guitar is made.. 13s WILL cause issues on the top of a large % of guitars. This isnt based on scientific facts, just my personal observations. Martin even says in their care and feeding not to exceed 12s.

If they shimmed that just 2 weeks ago, I stand corrected..... talk to the owner!

    Cracked bridge

Although the sittuation sucks, you guys ar being a little harsh on the shop. If someone comes in and is offered a $5 shim job or a $45 saddle job, 9 out of 10 people choose the shim. I didnt inspect the photos too well, but shimming an inexpensive guitars saddle is totally appropriate. And...

    Cracked bridge

13s are pretty heavy. Some guitars can take it, but a large % of D sized guitboxes WILL develop MAJOR issue(bellys, lifting bridges, lifting saddles, loose braces. If and when ya get this figured out, I would highly recomend detuning it when its cased. I dig playing heavy strings for strumming...
