Clipping If none of the individual tracks clip they can't be louder than the loudest clip right?

I am wondering why it is that my track levels are not in the red on each track's clip meter, but when you look at the main bus out meter it is clipping and I have to bring it down to like -6 or -10 db. Why is this? There are no effects on the main bus to increase gain. Thanks.

Cakewalk That was the point, the guy I talked to said he had used Cakewalk and Pro Tools and he can HEAR the difference and that radio stations can to. He said that effects are a much higher quality in Pro Tools, etc.

Someone told me the other day that a radio station would not play anything produced with Cakewalk because the quality is not that of something like Pro Tools. Is this true? Can you really HEAR the difference between both software? I know most high end places use Pro Tools, but isn't Cakewalk...

Normalized After normalizing everything it seems to sound fine. I don't really hear any "noise" persay now that the sound floor is increased. And I am using good monitors. But could the fact that I normalized it come back to haunt me in mastering? (I will be using a good mastering house).

TRS and XLR I've been wondering about how big an issue the XLR and TRS deal is. On my 4 track minidisc recorder I had 2 XLRs and 2 TRS ins and I could never tell the difference in audio. What's the real difference?
