Thats actually a really good idea. Why didn't i ever think of that?? Moving them to the meatier sections of my cab. God dammit. That's why i love this forum. I was just micing with bot mics to kind of capture the best possible tone with both. As far as handlng the SPL's i got that covered. My...

Yea you are right, the differences were minute but you could notice it for sure. I haven't really had the best luck at all micing a cab with a condensor mic ever. I have two different Condensors and i find the recorded tones to be quite shirll. But i have only ever tried the top two speakers...

thats a good question i'd like an answer too. But i suspect there is quite a bit difference. Like my Amp Cab is set up in an very long empty room. I have my speaker sweet spot taped off on the grill cloth and i mic right onto the grill cloth, BUT, when i move the cab around the room i do in fact...

I'm on it. As far the reverb goes smoothing is exactly what i like about it. With a little bit of compression and a hair of reverb percussive type sounds that get generated get a little bit smoother. Maybe that is the intended effect but yea my own jornuey into sound has come to like that combo.

Reverb is actually slowly growing on me the last year. I used to have this juvenile notion that reverb was just a noodlers tool and as such my "punk as fuck" mentality wanted nothing to do with it. But i find as i get older and see how reverb can help the mix of a song in little doses a little...

Thanks bob. I wish i was a little more involved with more of the overall project outside of the bass but, didn't seem to pan out that way. I like the Dimed one the best. It's a little piercing on it's own but i can see it having it's place in a guys songs. It just has a nice classic sound to...

    Successfully Amplifying Mandolin

I know i am late to the party, but i have recorded my brothers mando a few times and it was in a really small shitty room and i close-ish mic'd with a condenser, and it had Jack on it so i also just plugged it right into my interface. And blended the two signals. It turned out o.k. I have a...

Yes i do actually. NO lies. Those were my first words to him. It is muddy in the low to low mids i find, i think it is the guitars and the high freq's aren't open enough to let the mix breathe, i know he has some issues with his monitors and his room is not treated so i think it was mixed pretty...

Yea, i wasn't present for the tracking of the guitars for all those songs. I debated flying in to kind pitch in and see how he went about his guitar tracks for the clean stuff casue they did turn out kind of cool. I think it was Mesa triple Rectifier for the dirty parts? Big big amp i recall...

Here. Hopefully this works. I was having some trouble with. Old Punk Ska band from the 90's. rerecorded in the last two years or so. Details about the track are in the summary in the link if you wanna know more. I did the bass tracks and some production. Enjoy...

Your tweakin sounds pretty good man. It's coming together. Chances are good once you start mussing with the drums and polishing those up you'll be back to make final tweaks to the guitars and bass and stuff. Necessary evil. At least for me. Yes man!!! redoing old stuff always seems like a good...

Werd up to this. My LPJr, i have to duck a little bit between 375 and 450. And if i really want my Sparrow to tracks to pop out i just shave a whisker ditch out at about 250-300. And like, with sims especially, there is no inbetween, if i go to far with those little notches, it just sounds like...

Just chiming in here on the Marshall release of the Jubilee. It is NAMM time and i see alot of the bigger guys unveiling new stuff. Fender has a new line called the Bassbreaker that looks mildly interesting and Orange unvelied a schwack of new stuffs!! I like this time of year. All kinds of...

that has been my resoloutin for years now. I think i need to just replace resolution with the word "goal" and go from there. I need better goals. :S @Minerdood - The merging idea has hit me a few times, some of the shit i have stock piled could probably be easily consolidated into songs i...

I am more of the composing type versus the improv type. I think i would get shot out right if i tried to improv anything when it mattered. haha. My actual music theory doesn't exist. read music? Nope! Basically it's just screw around until i find something that sounds cool, make note of it or...
