    Audix Microphone

Ok first of all, there's no set list of mics you have to use for a certain piece of your drumkit. Generally, people use condensors for OHs, condensor/dynamic for snare, and dynamic for kick and tOms. But even that isn't absolute. Anyway, I haven't heard of it, but after a quick search it looks...

    Cymbal recommendations?

Definitely. It's the highest line. If you're looking for a Sabian it doesn't get better than HH. I don't have any of the cymbals, but my hats are HH. The Sabian logo kinda sucks, but the big Hand Hammered written on it is pretty neat. Impresses even people who don't know anything about drums...

    repeat effect

I've actually heard the song you're talking about, I'm bit of a K POP fan. I always thought she did that herself, doesn't sound like any studio trickery to me.

    Cymbal recommendations?

I got the AAX Ride too, but the 20". I absolutely love the way it sounds. Supposedly, the way they make it, it's volume more or less stays the same no matter how you play it. Not sure how/if that works, but that's not why I like it. Just love the sound. Yeah and B8s, they're entry level, so...

    Cymbal recommendations?

Oh and if this will be your studio kit, you might want to have a variety of cymbals. I don't know what kind of clients you get. Most serious drummers will at least have their own cymbals and snare, but if you find yourself with a drummer who has nothing you might want to consider getting a china...

    Cymbal recommendations?

Everyone's opinion will vary greatly. For example, I love Sabians but apparently Jimmy hates them. The best thing you can do is to go to Sam Ash, GC, or any decent music shop and test out as many cymbals as you can. Thats really is the only way it should be done.

    trigger lead question

I'm sure there are free trigger plug ins out there. All it does is play a set sample sound after the volume of the track crosses a decided volume. Nothing to it really. Did you do a google search ?

    good, cheap all-purpose crash?

Nothing more to add, Greg has pretty much summed it all up. But I do disagree with one point. I don't know about other 'rock' cymbals, but I just love the Zildjian Rock A series. I have an 18", it gives me just the right amount of sustain, and it really cuts through too.

    trigger lead question

Also, you can decide the ratio of the original source to the sampled source. For example, I'll sometimes trigger my kick drum. My kick track may be 30% sample sound, and 70% original source. I don't do the midi thing, I just drop in different wave files into the plug ins folder, and pick what I...

    trigger lead question

If you have the mics, you could also use a trigger plug in. That way you won't have to buy actual triggers.

    Cymbal recommendations?

What size are you looking for? Do you want to stick with Zildjian or are you open to other brands? If you're fine with getting used stuff, you can get a pretty decent setup in $800. I really like the sound of Zildjian A Series Rock cymbals, and the Sabian HH and AAX lines. I'm not a huge Paiste...

New Microphone Purchase HELP NEEDED ASAP

Ok for the headphones you need this. Most headphones actually come with the adapter, I guess that's not true in your case. You should be able to find it pretty easily, try Radio Shack.

New Microphone Purchase HELP NEEDED ASAP

I guess he's just a little pissed. His mic and pop filter won't fit on the stand, the mic doesn't record, the DAW doesn't work, the laptop charger might be blown, and that's only some of the stuff I read  I guess I'd be a little snippy too if all that happened at once. Don't worry man...

New Microphone Purchase HELP NEEDED ASAP

There could be plenty fo reasons why the mic isn't recording. First you need to assess what part of the chain is not working. Is it the mic, the soundcard, or is there a DAW issue? Have you tried the mic elsewhere? If it's a condensor, are you giving it phantom power? Try putting it in another...
