    Fret Files

Could someone please point me in the right direction to buy some fret files? Thank you.

    playback popping

Yeah, that's enough for no popping. I don't know about CoolEdit, but in Cakewalk, the biggest reason I would get popping is if my latency is set too low. Try increasing your latency. Also in Cakewalk, there is an option to try differernt driver (ASIO, WDM, MME). Try different drivers and see...

Sound card drivers and Mouse drivers

Does anyone know what driver files a mouse and a soundcard have in common? When I installed my Mia Midi soundcard drivers, my mouse stopped working. So I installed updated mouse drivers and it works now. Now I'm wondering what files the mouse drivers might have overwritten that my soundcard...

    Driver Reinstall

In this case, the driver installation is an .exe. It's for my Mia Midi soundcard. The instructions told me to install the drivers before I plug the PCI card in. That way when Windows boots up, it will find the drivers. So I don't want to run into the situation I've had with 98 and ME where...

    Driver Reinstall

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question about reinstalling/updating drivers on a Windows XP box. Most instructions say uninstall the old drivers and then install the drivers. After the uninstallation, the OS asks if I want to reboot for the...

Mia Midi analog input tiny bit of signal at -10 setting nothing plugged in

Can anyone with a Mia Midi verify if they get this Behaviour?: If I set the analog inputs to -10 and nothing is plugged in, the meters show a tiny bit of signal (about 3 to 5 pixels hi, less than -70dB). Is this normal?

"Full Range" outputs - What does this mean?

Yeah, that's what I thought. I do have two other left and right outputs that are the lowpass and highpass signals respectively. However, what does a left and a right mean with respect to 2 full rangs outs? It's slightly paradoxical, ya know?

"Full Range" outputs - What does this mean?

I have a left and a right output on the back of my Trace Elliot bass head marked "Full Range". The manual tells me they are "Full Range" outputs. I can't seem to find out what that actually means. I sent them an email awhile back but they never responded. Anybody know what this means?

    spdif 75 Ohm question

So I'm supposed to use a 75 Ohm cable for my spdif on my audio cards. I have some RCA type connector cables and I don't know what the Ohm rating is. Is it a proper test to check the resistance from tip to tip to check for 75 Ohms?

    USB vs. PCI?

Well, then I guess I don't understand English. The original post asked what the pros and cons are of USB vs. PCI and turned into Firewire is the best. In fact, nothing about bandwidth was mentioned in anyone's response in this thread until you. Bandwidth is one thing to consider about the...

    USB vs. PCI?

Not necessarily. I've used a couple USB sound devices and a PCI device. Both types have pros and cons. Some have Hi-Z instrument inputs on them so you don't need a direct box or a preamp, some have more inputs than others, some have multiple virtual outputs so multiple software can use the...

    Looking for MIDI recording software

Sonar 3 Producer is my suggestion. It will do all these things. It was very easy for me to learn (back when I got Sonar 1). It's very intuitive. Comes with about 5 softsynths plus a sampler (VSampler). It supports Rewire so you can control other great software like Reason (check this...

    Powered monitor speaker volumn question

So if the "input sensitivity" dial on the back of the monitors has from fully counterclockwise to fully clockwise: -20, -5, Max would "Max" be 0dB and the input sensitivity knob is an attenuation knob?

    24 bit benchmark

I found that if you right click on a .wav file in Windows, under the summary tab it will tell you if it's 16 bit or 24 bit. I did verify that if I record a track at 16 bit and save it to a 24 bit file, every third byte is a 00 (0, this is a no brainer, I guess). The thing I thought was...

Making a CD for regular CD players (.cda)

What tool do I need to make regular CDs so they will play on a music CD player? Will .wav files work, or do I need something to create .cda ?

    24 bit benchmark

I want to use a 24 bit wav file as a benchmark for testing my audio soundcard to see if it's working in 24 bit mode correctly. If I have a file I know is in 24 bit (how do I determine if a .wav is 24 bit?) and I import it into Sonar, if I bounce it to track in 16 bit mode and export to a 24 bit...
