I have moved to an apartment and can no longer mike my guitar amp externally for computer recording without angry threats from neighbors. I am trying to find out the next best way to continue to record guitar directly - my budget is around $300. I record through a Tascam US-122 MIDI interface...
Are you familiar with the Vox ToneLab Modeler? I did some quick research comparing the Vox and the Line 6 POD amp modelers and user reviews seemed to indicate that you get a warmer, tube sound out of the Vox. Maybe I should re-post this topic in Other Equipment for more input.
Thanks,
E
Thanks for the input. OK, sounds like I will need some sort of modeling contraption. "Try a POD or V-Amp"...Are these two the most heavily recommended? The POD is more expensive - worth it? Also, are there modelers that can do both guitar and bass or do you need a bass modeler separately...
I have a Peavey Classic 50/212 Tube Combo Amp and had a question on how to record directly from the amp into my computer. Because I live in an apartment, I can't really mic my amp externally because it will be too loud for my neighbors. When I record bass guitar with my bass amp there is a...
That is good to know, thanks. Why am I not finding any guitar amps with the Direct Inject feature? Basically I need a new guitar amp anways so I was hoping to kill two birds here.
Thanks
I have a Laney bass combo amp that has an XLR Direct Inject (DI) feature - I am a little unclear as to what this does but I assume I can run the amp straight into my Tascam US122 Audio Interface w/ an XLR cord and record on the computer capturing the amp's sound without actually having to mic...
A newbie here - just purchased N-Track upon realizing that my previous software which did not support ASIO drivers was the reason for the severe latency problem I was experiencing. I record with a Tascam US-122 Audio/MIDI interface, and I went with N-Track for its ASIO support (and low price...
I recently asked for advice on a latency problem I'm having with my Tascam US-122. I am using a cheapo recording software (Acoustica Mixcraft) and I don't doubt that this is part of the latency issue. However, the fix I sought to implement was to disable input monitoring altogether through my...
Thanks ssscientist (you can call me 'janitor' if you like) - I have discovered that neither Cool Edit Pro or Mixcraft support any Asio drivers. Does this change anything in what you just told me, or am I misunderstanding Asio altogether?
Thanks,
E
Which recording software programs support Direct Monitoring? I'm trying to use the function on my Tascam 122 to eliminate latency but I have discovered that both programs I have (Acoustica Mixcraft & Cool Edit Pro 2.0) do not handle this? Help!
Thanks,
E

Thanks for the help - do you happen to know if Mixcraft 2.50 can peroform this function? Also, I have old version of Cool Edit Pro 2.0 that I have never tried - I read in a forum that 2.0 does not support ASIO or EASI. Does this mean that Direct Monitoring would not work if i switched to that...
I am currently using Acoustica Mixcraft as my recording software, but have not been able to figure out how to use Direct Monitoring with it. Latency in my set-up is a problem, and I am thinking about switching to Cool Edit Pro 2.0. Can anyone tell me if this allows me to do Direct Monitoring...
recording specs
Sample Rate - 44100
Bit Depth - 16 bits
Number of Buffers - 16
Buffer Size - 32768
I don't see anything in my recording software about Direct Monitoring. I do have the option when recording to unclick Overdub; I also have the option to decide which soundcard to use -...
I have run into a latency issue on my Tascam 122 - when I overdub on an imported beat or the first rhythm track - the latency factor seems to be around 120 ms. Actually, it seems to be early/faster by 120 ms so I have to increase the time location on that track to match beat correctly. I have...
I am a newbie to the home-recording game. I have immediately run into a latency issue - when I overdub on an imported beat or the first rhythm track - the latency factor seems to be around 120 ms. I have two questions:
1. Will the latency factor always be constant with my set-up? (i.e. every...
