True, I'm just curious if you guys with trained ears agreed with the hype about the onyx. Idealy for my next project I would like to bypass the analog circutry on the Roland 2480 and go s/pidf in with a Apogee Rosetta 200 which is stereo. I would use something like a compact mixer to expand my...
You could use a gate. This would produce absolute silence when no signal is going through the mic. When the audio signal is loud enough to trigger the gate, the gate will open. Your hiss will still be there, but -30,-40 your source should mask any noise. I haven't used MXL, but I think that hiss...
Thanks for the heads up about mercenary audio Chess Parov. I figure if I just buy all the mics I won't just have to pick one.
Warhead- Thanks for your concern. I don't want to be a distraction to the Intent of the forum. I guess it's unusual for a woman to take interest in audio stuff, but I...
Thanks Kiira, That's more helpful than you know. I tried to find your website to listen to you, but I guess you don't have one. So I don't know how similar our voices are. Do you think the gain problem would be there with the KSM44 or is that a problem only with the Beyer. For that much money I...
The DVC was the other Manley mic pre I was considering. What are the mics you're pairing with it that you like. Currently I'm using the Shure KSM44, But I Used the AT4050 for "Slippery Road".
I was hoping the Manley would warm up and round off that harsh direct sound of the U87. Thanks for the Heads up about Gearslutz. I think the name suits me.
Has anyone heard the new Mackie Onyx mic pres with their new Perkins EQ that is supposed to be comparable to british consoles. Do they live up to the hype? How do they compare to the previous mackie Pro series?
Normally an Sm57 would be the last mic I'd recommend as a vocal mic for recording. But for screaming metal, I think that's what alot of pros use. I think even Cindy Lauper used one. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks, That was a home recording. Full Details and pic are on my studio page. We try to track vocals with no more than 2:1 ratio compression, can't remember the threshold. In that case my engineer really wanted to keep the vocal as close to the cieling as possible as it was a 16 bit 44.1...
Wow, I wasn't expecting that many people to have experience with it. It sounds like I can't go wrong with it. With Manley, that is what I would expect. At 3,600 they're pretty proud of it. Thanks for the input guys.
I joined sonic bids and they're pretty good just because of the convience. I hate hard copy press kits. It's just a nuisance. I feel like in this age of the internet, if they can't get on line to pull up my press kit, they might not be smart enough to count out the money to pay me for the gig. I...
