When I first got PT LE 7.1.1 I'd get that bouncing icon and it wouldn't open. I just installed that prebinding script and it worked. I don't know, It's working so far, just that cpu usage limit, which I've read, is pretty common if you are adding too many plugins and junk.

I record in an open room about 5 ft away from my pc. I use the gate on my compressor to help remove some of that unwanted noise and the limiter to help balance the spikes from emphasis. I try to really keep it as dry as possible so I can tweek it more in Pro tools. Never tried it with a plug...

Would using a firewire interface like mbox 2 pro or digi 002, 003 help this? The -9129 message says usb playback. So fire wire is fast right?

^That's what I did. The old one was just lying around in the closet. If you're gonna do it, unplug the usb from mbox and plug in the firewire from your target(my broke one) to host (working one) mac while the target is off. Turn on the target and hold down 'T' until it appears as a hard drive...

Might help, probably not: I didn't want to drop 300-400 on a new external so I used my old imac, with a broke screen, as a make shift external hard drive. You have to put the old mac into target disk mode and it will act just like an external HD.

You need some source of phantom power from a pre, mixer or interface. You should maybe save up a bit more and buy both. Running a decent mic thru a piece of shit source will make it sound like shit.

Anyone have any methods or tips they use to help limit the CPU usage in Protools, aside from recording to an external HD? 2 mono more usage than 1 stereo...etc? I'm running PT LE 7.1.1 on an intel iMac with 1.5 gb ram and 2 ghz processor. Thanks

I've noticed a bunch of home studio's use 4 monitors and a sub. Would you use a crossover to set 2 for highs, 2 for mid and the sub for the lows? If anyone has the setup could you post the type of crossover and how you wired it to the monitors? Thanks.

I've read if you face the foil outward toward the room, it is effective for bass traps, but the foil will also reflect the highs. So at your first reflection points, don't put the foil side out. Have you tried taking the foil off yet? I've heard other people say it's quite easy.

I'm using the 5's and I don't think they have much low end accuracy. But if you get a sub, they work good for the mids and highs. I'm using the 5's with KRK's 10" sub and it sounds great.

I think it serves the same purpose as placing panel elsewhere in the room. It's just placed between the monitors and listening position and extends past listening position to the rear. Absorbing reflections off the ceiling I guess. Just passing what i remember.

Was just gonna use 4" 703 panels for the corners, although I would love to slap those super chunk absorbers. My studio is a common space in my house so I can't do to much to it.
