And whoever did the one star rating just made my point completely. Still, that's one star more than any other tune here, so I guess I'm winning... :D

OK - this is a thread about my tune - and it is quickly heading in a direction in which I didn't steer it. I understand completely why that is. I'm not stupid. I get the dynamics involved. Please no-one say "He started it..." What are we, children? Passive aggression seems to live in the...

Yep, I'm hearing the volume thing now. I'll duck it in a little when the voices come in I think. On it's own, its a great sound, I reckon, but with the voices it's a bit much. LOL - you always say that. But no. Thanks for the opinion but I'm not trying to write simple 4/4 pop tunes, and I like...

Out of curiosity, I went and listened to One - I have heard it before, maybe once or twice, a decade or more ago, but I didn't really remember it. Forgetting is not really like it at all - apart from the first two notes being I/V in B - I can't claim originality for that sequence alas... :(...

Thanks Jimmy. Still work to do - if you saw my monitoring set up you'd not be surprised at the issues I have getting the bass balance right on various instruments.:laughings: Bit more tweaking and I'll get there.

Thanks Johnny. PRS CU 22 actually. Just listening via my phone now I've still got to push that main guitar down a touch and roll the HPF up a little as well. Pedal is a Strymon BlueSky, using a "bloom" patch.

Thanks Brutha - I've nudged the guitars down - there are so many that there's plenty of high pass filtering going on already - may have to do a little more and look at the bass as well - might have wound that HPF up a touch too high.

Thanks andypandy (hmmm.... you probably don't know who andy pandy is, I guess...). I tried various vocal arrangements with the relatively sparse number of words on offer and landed here, so I'm keeping it. :thumbs up:

LOL - "Frogetting" - "Forgetting", obviously.:laughings::laughings::laughings::laughings: My first new track of the year. I've spent too long with it now and can't hear a damn thing any more. It's based around a particular reverb guitar pedal sound so it's a tad wet. Don't know what else...

Standing on the Corner in the Rain w\ Nick and Dave

Heard something weird in the bass at about 44/45 secs, and you probably should trim the end of the bass at the very end of the song where you can distinctly hear another note during the fade out where it should just hold. Those additional edge of audibility vocals at about 3.00 don't really add...

Reaper rendering issue - MIDI VSTi sounds being "cut off"

What we have here gentlemen, is a step backwards in Reaper's ability to handle SSD4 from version 4.x to 5.x. I can get around it by rendering in real time, which is a slight PITA but I can live with it if I have to. Hopefully in some future release they'll get back to where they were. I'll try...

Reaper rendering issue - MIDI VSTi sounds being "cut off"

My googling generally, points me to the Cockos forum which indicates that it might be under Preferences, rather than on the actual dialogue. I'll have a dig later to see what I can find. Nowhere near my recording PC right now so can't check. It does highlight that I know zero about the various...

Reaper rendering issue - MIDI VSTi sounds being "cut off"

Didn't even know there was such a box! So much for my powers of observation. Will give it a try tonight and report back. Thanks geck. ;)

Reaper rendering issue - MIDI VSTi sounds being "cut off"

Hi My VSTi is SSD4, but I don't think it matters. (1) Happens to long sounds - so in a drum VSTi that's crashes and rides. (2) Happens to every instance of crash and ride - takes about a second, which with rides you don't really notice if you're continually hitting it - very noticeable on...

    New Song -- Windy City

I wouldn't feel the need to do anything more to it by way of adding stuff in at the end. Nothing wrong with droning away like you do for as long as you do - would fit nicely in an album. Sort of thing Wilco might do - in terms of the drone ending, that is - not comparing you. What I would do is...

    Finished track opinioon

I'm not sure where the backing track came from but the piano is pretty average and plonky - and you can't change anything? That's because it's just you singing against a backing track, right? I listened to this because, even though I hate musicals with a passion, Julie Covington nailing "and as...

    I'm Still Alive and Well

If you based that song around a drum performance and you want it to be a keeper then I'd re-track the drums and start again as they're way sloppy in places. I get that you're relatively new to drumming - and fuck knows I can't drum at all - so if this is just an exercise in recording an old...

    The New Tone Thread

That just confirms why I don't like Mesas, I guess. To each their own. Curious - is that the drummer drumming to the guitars, or the guitarists guitaring to the drums? I presume it's just a jam/out-take given the (relative) "dragging" in the drums.
