New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

Hey GT, how are you doing these days? Give me an update... PM me if you like. Thanks for the listen. No, not an actual drumkit - I'm just getting better at getting more realistic sounds from it. Same VSTI as the album, but I understand it better now. ? I haven't listened to the album in...

New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

The usual "no-one likes to hear their own voice so we bury it as far as we can" thing I expect... Thanks for the listen. I've done an update, somewhere in this thread... :thumbs up:

New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

Thanks for the listen. I've made a few adjustments to the vocals and bass which, hopefully, will appear above... or below. Somewhere... ?

New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

Thanks for the listen ... I have done some various adjustments including to vocal levels, both by zeroing in on specific syllables with automation and also generally giving it a bump and working on EQ. Assuming I can edit the original post I'll shove v3 up there. I haven't been here much since...

New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

Hey dobro... long time etc. I may just try that later for a lark. Could be quite spooky. Thanks for the listen. :thumbs up:

Thanks Mr Monkey. Appreciate the listen... :D

New Honey Hunters - "Never Mind"

Been a while good folks... glad to see everyone's still arguing about the same things down there in Prime Time. :P So for those who know me, I completely up-ended my life and moved 1000km north, almost a year ago, and so, instead of having my "studio" in a wood-floored narrow hallway, it's in a...

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

Undecided - I've been concentrating on the mix. I've turned the high harmonies that are already there up a little bit so they're more audible and I'm going to see how I feel about those - done a few more tweaks as well. I can certainly see where additional secondary vocals in spots in the verse...

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

Thanks Jeff - appreciate the comments - to cut a long story short - Kemper / strat / effects pedals / interface / Reaper - apart from the bass, which is, obviously, a bass, but still went through the Kemper. There's like a dozen diferrent guitar parts there, apart from the main two, which were...

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

Thanks Chili - I played it in the car the other day on the way to GF's place - loud - and the kick and bass took my head off, so I've backed the kick right off and taken a bit of the low end of the bass, and I've only just now updated the file above - plus I played around with various other...

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

It seems like I should have a more complicated answer but it's Steve Slate Drums 4 - just a kit I put together - the snare is a mix of two from the "Deluxe" category. I've basically just dropped the standard Reaper EQ presets for kick, snare, cymbals on the kick, snare and overheads, and a HPF...

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

I'm not much for blowing long cylindrical things, but maybe there's a VSTi version I can look up.

    Interesting... never heard that before.:laughings:

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

Thanks Stevie... drums are programmed...:) You could be right about the additional harmony lines - I did have a similar thought but hadn't got to it yet. I'll have a play around during the week.

    Honey Hunters - Rockets

OK friends - first new thing from me in a very long while... :( Dealing with the inevitable, fame, fortune, groupies, cocaine habit etc. after the last album. It's tough man... :laughings: Or perhaps I just got a bit lazy. Something like that... ;) I know, I know, I'm never here much any...

    Hungry Mile

OK - first of all, it's pretty good! But, here's what I would do... I'd LPF the acoustic guitar a bit higher than you are - assuming you are - kill of some of the really low frequencies. Might be a matter of steepening the curve rather than changing the frequency - not sure what you've done...

    Hungry Mile

Hi Mr D/TwoDogs - I have the file now and I'll have a listen tonight on my proper system. My laptop does bad things to frequencies so I won't comment from what I can hear from it right now - but it sounds generally pretty good to me. Maybe some frequency stuff with the lead guitar, but that...

When mixing a track why does the decibel reading shoot up when I cut?

On behalf of management, I'll apologise that perhaps some of our posters don't have the subtlety of verbal communication you'd prefer, but the answer to your problem is, as has been pointed out by several knowledgeable people above, to record with enough headroom - something you can do by...
