    My condenser mic died. Help.

If it's only a few years old, you could probably get Studio Projects to take a look at it themselves for the cost of shipping. One of my C4s started getting a bunch of crackly sounds about a year ago and I sent it out there and had it back working perfectly within a few weeks.

    Drum Test

Maybe I'll try tuning the snare higher tomorrow; it's a little late on the East coast to do any drumming right now. :D I'm multitracking. Here's my mic setup: Snare: SM57 on top. Kick: Beta 52 sitting on pillow in the middle of drum facing up at the beater Toms: e604 at a 45 degree angle about...

    Drum Test

Thanks! You're right about the snare not having enough crack. It may just need a new head. The one that's on there now is a bit worn.

    Drum Test

I'm getting ready to record a demo for my brother's band this week, and I've been messing around with drum recording a bit today. Here's a sample: http://www.box.net/shared/7xyfv5t8ow That's me playing the drums, and I'm not really a drummer, so take it easy! :p The snare was just recorded...

    FS: Yamaha MG 16/4 Mixer

I recently got a Mackie Onyx 1620, so I'm selling my Yamaha MG 16/4. It's been used in my smoke-free home studio for about 2 years, and everything is in perfect working order. There is one small scratch on the front of the board, but otherwise it is in very good cosmetic condition. The rack...

Lexicon Omega - Recording 4 Simultaneous Tracks

One of my brother's friends is looking at getting a USB audio interface to record into his laptop. He will be doing up to 4 tracks simultaneously (2 guitars, vocals, bass). Will the Lexicon Omega handle 4 tracks without hiccups? I'm concerned with the fact that it has USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. He...

    Questions about studio

If you have a decent computer, a Delta 1010 is a great choice. I've been using one for the past few years and it's done it's job well. You'll also need to look at a set of studio monitors. For recording guitar and vocals, check out a Studio Projects B1 condenser microphone. It's a pretty good...

Will Vista be OK for recording on this PC?

I'll probably stick with Windows XP then on that PC, which it has been running fine for about 5 years. I figured that I'd have to add more RAM. Thanks for your input.

Will Vista be OK for recording on this PC?

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone have firsthand experience using Vista on older PCs?

Will Vista be OK for recording on this PC?

I have an older PC that has an "acquired" copy of XP on it. I have a copy of Vista (as well as a copy of Windows Server 2003) free through my school, and I was wondering how Vista would perform on it for audio recording. That's pretty much all I'm going to use it for. Here are the rough specs...

How many drum mics do you record with

I usually use these 4 mics: Overheads: 2 Studio Projects C4 (Spaced Pair) Snare: Shure SM57 Kick: Shure Beta 52 If I need a little extra boost for the toms, I pull out my trusty Sennheiser e604s. :)

Too Much Gain for Delta 1010LT

Thanks. I guess I'll just play with those until I get everything working the way it should be. Right now the input level is +4, so if I change it to 0 or -10, that would allow me to add more gain on the mixer without clipping, right? I'm pretty sure output level has nothing to do with it.

Too Much Gain for Delta 1010LT

I have a Yamaha MG 16/4 mixer that I use to run line outs to my Delta 1010LT card in my computer. I've always just set the gain on the mixer so that the levels on my recording software looked good, but that meant having the gain way down a lot of times. How can I change the settings on my Delta...

    Monitors?

Believe it or not, the Behringer Truth monitors are actually pretty good, and they cost around $300. The KRK Rokits are also a good value.

    overhead technique

Try the Recorderman overhead technique. A lot of people have used it with good results. Here's a demo of it being used: https://youtube.com/watch?v=IiFOD1EeKhQ

    Studio Projects C4 Problem

I have a pair of C4s that I bought about 2-3 years ago, and now one of the mics is making a weird noise. It sounds almost as if someone is blowing into it. The capsules are all fine, because they work without a hitch on the other mic. I've also tested various input channels and cables, so it has...

    Micing a Choir

This isn't for recording; it is for sound reinforcement only (i.e. just to get the choir to come out of the church's sound system). Also, as I said before, it's not a large space, really. It's a tiny little alove on the side of the church that the choir is stuffed in. There are probably about 25...

    Micing a Choir

It's going to be the choir singing along with the organ and some piano. No other instruments. Would an XY (cardiod capsules) configuration still be ok in that situation? What about a single omni mic in the middle of the choir? Or even two omnis spaced out a bit and pointed inward slightly? I'm...

    Micing a Choir

I have two Studio Projects C4s that I'm looking to use to mic my church's choir. They are set up in three rows on risers, going from low (in front) to high (in back). They are in kind of like a little alcove in our church off to the side. The ceiling is very low, so micing them directly overhead...
