Tried recordin at somewhere around -18db|-12...damn thats low...its gonna take like 12db of makeup gain in the compression for me to be able to hear myself over the beat lol.

Got a dumb question...how do u know exactly what dB ur recordin at in ur DAW? Usin CE 2.0 here.

I love my ksm27. Ive had the Audio Technica 4040, 2020, Rode NT1a, Studio Projects B1, Blue Bluebird. The ksm27 is my favorite (on my voice) of all the above. The Audio Technicas were decent on my voice. I like the ksm so much its my second ksm27 I've had cuz I had to sell my first one cuz...

Yeah, those are typically decent settings for compression but we all know it varies by the track. Also, don't be afraid to add a few dB's of makeup gain if you need to.
